Log cabin located on the edge of Linville Gorge in Pisgah National Forest within walking distance of some of the best hiking trails in the Southeastern U.S. Only 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very private location for adventure or solitude. No house parties allowed The space Spacious log cabin built in 2012 on 8 acres in a quiet neighborhood, a part of the Jonas Ridge community in the North Carolina High Country. The cabin is located about 5 miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway and is close to Linville Gorge, Table Rock and Hawksbill Mountain. Grandfather Mountain is just a 15 minute drive away. Hiking trails with a flowing creek are on the property. There is easy access to dozens of popular trails in the Pisgah National Forest and Linville Gorge Wilderness. Other Outdoor activities include some of North Carolina's best fishing, just a short drive away to the Linville River, Wilson Creek and Harper's Creek. Skiing is also close by at Sugar Mountain and Beech Mountain only minutes away. Snow tubing is available at Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing Just 4 miles up the road in the winter. If you are a Foodie looking for great restaurants, take a drive to Spruce Pine or Blowing Rock for some of the best "Farm-to -table" experiences you'll find. There are also many good restaurants in Banner Elk, Newland and beyond. Or you could just stay in and enjoy the kitchen with granite counter tops, stainless steel appliances, and a fabulous gas grill. The cabin has 2 bedrooms on the main floor, 2 bedrooms downstairs and pullout beds in the loft and the downstairs living area. The deck is a main attraction with a beautiful view of Jonas Ridge by day and starry skies at night. Lounge chairs and comfortable rockers seat up to 10 guests easily. There is also an outdoor table that seats 6, but can be used for up to 8 people. The property is about a 20 minute drive from Banner Elk, Sugar Mountain, Spruce Pine and about a 30 minute drive from Beech Mountain. You can get to the cabin in about 2 hours from Charlotte, NC and Greenville, SC This Log cabin has high ceilings with an open concept floor plan. The master bedroom has 1-king sized bed. The 3 other bedrooms have queen sized beds. The upstairs family room has a stone, gas log fireplace and TV with Direct TV satellite programming. The den downstairs has a 3-way view gas fireplace, a big screen TV with a DVD player. The downstairs patio area has the gas grill, a swinging hammock, Corn-hole bag toss boards, giant "Jenga"-type game plus an outdoor hot shower (shower not available year round- water is turned off in cold season to prevent pipes from freezing/bursting)! Cable and Wi-Fi are available. We also have a Verizon Wireless Hot Spot for guests with Verizon cellular service. There is also a land phone line available. Access to the cabin is very easy with less than 1/10th of a mile on a gravel road to get to the driveway. Gravel roads in the neighborhood are well maintained and plowed in heavy snow conditions. Guest access Guests have access to the full cabin and grounds which include trails and creeks. Other things to note There are no problems getting access to the cabin. There are good roads that do not require 4 wheel drive vehicles. Be cautious about the weather if traveling in the winter. There are times when we've had heavy snow, but just a couple of miles down the road there is no snow on the ground. There is no on-site trash pickup and all trash needs to be properly stored in the large trashcan downstairs before being taken to the county trash facility 2 miles away.
