The water view living room/music studio is backlined with old recordings and instruments to feed the muse or let it out. 84'' dock (June 15th until Sept 15), The space My father bought this little fishing cottage in 1986 and rented it to blue collar working musicians so he could dock his boat here. The property has lots of local lore. I have built/rebuilt it with friends over the years with what I like to call "a hodgepodge collection of my emerging (and emergency) carpentry skills" I bought it from my sister in 2008 after my dad passed, and again from my ex-wife in 2011. My 12 year old son Jaxzen and I call this home most of the year, but like to travel when we have guests. We hope that you will enjoy the cottage as much as we do. Guests of ALL AGES are ENCOURAGED to play the instruments in the music room. We love to hear it! In fact, feel free to use anything you find in and around the cottage: from instruments, tools, appliances, utensils, books, toys and games, to the fire pit, and outdoor grills, or even the row boat or kayaks(at your own risk (during the day (and use life vests!))). Play games, read books, listen to recordings, watch movies... We are not your typical waterfront rental. I work as a local artist/musician, bartender/server, and housekeeping/maintenance for the property . We are hoping this new venture takes some of the burden off our monthly mortgage, utility, and maintenance expenses as well as giving us an opportunity to upgrade appliances, furnishings, and the roof. Guest access Guests have exclusive access to the top sundeck, central air/heat, WiFi, music studio/living room with (2) hide-a-beds (Queen &Full), kitchen/dining room, bathroom shower/tub, washer/dryer, and three (3) (King, Queen, & Full) bedrooms. We share the shoreline, firepit, dock, and the rest of the outdoor areas with guests. Other things to note The original cottage was among the first houses built in Sturgeon Bay (the basement walls are made of 3 foot thick fieldstone). The breathtaking view of Sturgeon Bay still qualifies this premier location as one of the top in all of Door County. Generations of additions and renovations and innovations have resulted in the current cobbled together hodgepodge of a cottage that I just flippantly named AirMikeyB June of 2018 (may the inspiration never end). We share our personal collections and inspirations with guests here and trust everyone not to take anything but memories. So far, it has been working out really well. My son and I live in Door County year round. Feel free to ask me for anything you may want or need during your stay. I have collections of tools and other odds and ends that could quickly be at your disposal as easy as a text away. If I don't have it, Sturgeon Bay is a small community and I can be pretty resourceful when called upon. I have lived in Door County my whole life and enjoy making suggestions and recommendations. There is no dishwasher or garbage disposal, we wash everything by hand here. Guests are not required to wash any dishes (we really don't mind doing it), but if you do, please use the drain stoppers provided so that the sinks don't clog up. Wisconsin State law also requires us to notify guests that although we wash our dishes with Dawn dish soap, we do not always rinse with a sanitizer, so you may choose to pre-wash dishes or cookware you wish to use. The dock and it and any watercraft that may be available, can only be used at your own risk. Also, the Central Air seems to bottom out at 75 degrees in the cottage in the summer.
