Description

The Coach House is a detached former working building in the grounds of Manor House which has recently been renovated to an exceptional standard. The Coach House is a unique, eco-friendly, self-catering accommodation – perfect for exploring the beauty of East Yorkshire. We are also pleased to have been voted as finalists in the 2023 Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs) in the category of Remarkable Self Catering Accommodation. The space Open-plan Kitchen and Living space. The Coach House was renovated with a stylish open-plan kitchen and living space upstairs. Opened up to the original roof beams, the space is light and airy and due to the modern heating and insulation, warm and cosy too. The staircase from the ground floor opens directly into the kitchen (making it unsafe for children). The kitchen is equipped with appliances including a built-in fridge, freezer, dishwasher and recycling unit. The range cooker comprises a large gas oven, grill and 5 burners with an overhead extractor fan built into the old fireplace. A toaster, microwave, ‘Tassimo’ pod coffee machine and kettle are also provided. The cupboards are well stocked with crockery and tableware, ample for 6 guests to dine around the farmhouse table. The kitchen is well equipped for home cooking and Driffield boasts many independent food retailers (plus supermarkets) for all your ingredient needs. The Coach House is also within ‘free delivery’ range of a wide variety of takeaways, and it’s only a 5-minute walk to the town’s high street pubs and restaurants. (Within a 15–20-minute drive there are many countryside eateries too). The living space is a really comfortable place to relax. There is a 'non-burning' cast iron stove which provides a warm glow and ambience set under a large oak mantle piece. A 58" Smart TV is wall mounted and can be easily viewed from the comfortable leather sofas or from the kitchen. There is a cupboard full of board and card games and a bookcase of browsable books for our visitors to enjoy. The ‘Fuller’ Master Bedroom. The sun filled upstairs master bedroom is beautifully decorated in a country house style with black wrought iron king sized bed, leather chaise-long, wardrobe and Smart TV. Artwork in the bedroom is from the Robert Fuller Gallery at Thixendale (near Driffield). Shower Room The upstairs shower room is adjacent to the Fuller master bedroom and contains a modern, luxurious walk-in shower with rain-maker showerhead and separate body shower. Hand-made units and granite worktops together with under-floor heating add an impressive touch of luxury. The ‘Wolds’ King Size Bedroom. Downstairs is a second bedroom overlooking the rear garden and again is fitted with a smart TV. The black wrought iron king-size bed complements the period feature fireplace. The room also has a large country pine wardrobe with ample storage space, plus bedside drawers. A period teachers desk echos the days when the Coach House was used as classrooms for a private girls school. The artwork in this room is inspired by the Yorkshire Wolds countryside with beautiful dry valley’s and historic market towns and villages. Bathroom The downstairs bathroom is beautifully finished with deep tub bath, corner shower and underfloor heating. The ‘Hockney’ Twin Bedroom The third bedroom downstairs is beautifully appointed with twin single beds, bedside drawers, large wardrobe and Smart TV over a period fireplace. The artwork in this room is inspired by David Hockney. Hallway & Games Room The ground floor hall is spacious with bedrooms 2 and 3 plus bathroom and utility leading off. There is a desk, containing lots of local information and maps - ideal for working at or planning your next outing. The staircase leads from the hall to the first floor living space. The spacious hallway also opens out into a lovely games area; the perfect spot to relax, play at the pool table or choose from the selection of games. The artwork in this room comprises original school maps (reflecting the history of the Coach House when it was used as classrooms for Manor House School for Girls). Utility Room The downstairs utility room houses a washing machine and a second under-counter fridge. The room also contains an ironing board, iron and cordless vacuum cleaner. The Coach House has modern efficient central heating with two 'Hive' thermostats so that the upstairs and downstairs can be controlled separately. Outside Space The Coach House has a private south west facing garden with both grassed and decked areas, pretty raised flower beds, an open fronted summer house and garden furniture. The garden is secure with a high fence and gate. There is a dedicated parking space for one car as well as ample on-street parking. Guest access Guests who have booked have exclusive use of the Coach House during their stay. In addition, the property has its own garden with shelter (summerhouse). There is a dedicated parking space for one guest car on the drive directly outside the Coach House. Please note though, the parking space and the driveway between it and the Coach House entrance is loose gravel which can create accessibility issues. On road parking near to the Coach House is available for a second car if needed. An external key safe provides access in case we are not around when you arrive. Other things to note If you are staying with us to attend one of the local fantastic wedding venues, we highly recommend booking a taxi well in advance. Driffield is within easy travelling distance to a host of interesting places from stately homes and gardens, museums and galleries, traditional market towns and historic cities. The rolling countryside of the Wolds, which surround Driffield, offer breath taking walks in an area that is yet relatively undiscovered and therefore offers an abundance of solitude. There are a number of circular walks starting in the town itself, as well as many more just a short drive away. The Tour de Yorkshire passed through Driffield in 2016 and the roads of the area have been popular with cyclists ever since. (Driffield has two bike repair shops should they be needed). The spectacular Yorkshire coast is easily accessible from the Coach House, and offers not only beach and cliff top walks and traditional seaside town fun and facilities, but also many wildlife spotting opportunities including birds (RSPB sites at Bempton Cliffs and Spurn Point), seals, and a pod of dolphins which traverses the coastline. Your friendly hosts have a wealth of local information to help you enjoy your stay in East Yorkshire.
