Home Away From Home! Spectacular views with large windows and decks to enjoy the view of the lake, mountains or the stunning fall foliage. This relaxing getaway has everything you need to enjoy your stay. Cook a gourmet meal, build a warm fire, take a walk to the country store or just read a book in one of its many quiet spots. Our guest house is truly a home away from home. Everything you need to make a gourmet meal, bake or even roll your own sushi is here (minus the groceries), we do provide everyday items like, oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, coffee, coffee filters, sugar, black tea bags and some spices too. Note: The lake is spectacular to look at but it is a private lake therefore we have no access. We also provide newspaper and matches so you can enjoy a warm fire in the fireplace(wood is available at the local Price Chopper by the bag) . There is also a Weber gas grill on the deck off the kitchen. We have provided a welcome book that includes area restaurants, ski resorts, bakeries, hiking trails, shopping, ideas and must do's for your convenience. Emergency numbers are provided also. The house has smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, 2 fire extinguishers, first aid kit and a new door code for every guest for safety and convenience. There are 6 beds(3Q-3T), 2 Futons and a couch that sleeps a total of 14 people with lots of fresh pillows and blankets. We just converted a large walk in closet space to be a quiet nursery with a crib and a pack and play(see pic). There are 3.5 bathrooms with plush towels and also a full laundry room with detergent, fabric softener, paper towels, toilet paper and extra sheets and pillowcases. Guests will have access to the entire house with no interruptions or disturbances unless called upon. There is only 1 step to enter the main floor of the house from where you park. The main floor includes the kitchen, living room, dining room, master suite with full bathroom, full deck with view and laundry room. Upstairs and downstairs have full flights of stairs to access. Guests have access to the entire 3 story house and grounds. Interaction with guests can vary depending on guests needs and wants but host will always be available by phone. I live just a few minutes away if needed and I always leave guests alone unless they message me. The Hamlet of Spencertown is just 1.5 miles down the road where you will find a sweet Country Store, and tennis courts or head into Chatham (just 5 miles more), where there is everything you need grocery stores, pharmacies, gas stations, banks, restaurants, bakeries, galleries, gift shops, coffee shops, farmers markets, a movie theatre, hiking trails, fair grounds and much much more Our home is 25 miles south of the Albany International airport, a 45-minute drive. Two hour AMTRAK train ride from NYC along the Hudson River to Hudson NY, fifteen minutes away from our home by car, taxi, limo. Enterprise Car rentals available in Hudson. 2 hours from NYC and Boston. Bus service is also available from NYC and Boston to nearby Great Barrington, Massachusetts. ******Guests must be at least 21 years of age to book. ******* No 3rd party bookings. NEARBY CHATHAM Five minute drive to Chatham’s historic Main Street with town hall, clock tower and vintage movie house with first run movies and documentaries. Bookstores and town library has a Louis Comfort Tiffany window. Pub and restaurants, patisserie, wine store and cheese shop, bakery and coffee spots, organic shop and market, toy store, galleries, farmers markets and roadside stands, tag sales, mammoth 24-hour grocery store. Public swimming pond, stables and Hawthorne Valley farm visits, annual antique car show, film festival, garden tours and county fair. Churches of various denominations. Tennis courts, general store and arts academy in Spencertown. Private airfield in nearby Ghent. Woodstock is not far. Very convenient to trendy Hudson with bar and music, film scene, upscale restaurants, antique hunting, people watching, clothing stores and farmers market and Olana home of Hudson River painter Frederick Church and also home of Thomas Cole in nearby Catskill. Amtrak Station, taxi service, Enterprise car rental, limo service. Nearby Old Chatham with General Store/dining and great pub with sports TV. Easy access to Berkshires: Tanglewood, summer home of Boston Symphony, Stockbridge and Norman Rockwell Museum, Shaker Museum and Tannery Pond concerts, Great Barrington cultural scene. Kirpalu Yoga Center is nearby as are Edna St Vincent Millay historic site, MASS MOCA art center, Clark Museum and legendary Williamstown Playhouse. Mt Greylock is also in the vicinity. Fall foliage divine. Close to ski areas, cross-country and snow shoeing. Great for bike rides long and short. Tons of deer and large flocks of wild turkey can be spotted in the fields along the road into town. Catch the Perseid meteor showers in early August. Antiquing abounds in Sheffield, Great Barrington, Hudson, Rhinebeck and many other surrounding towns. Nearby auction houses include Meisner's, Copake Auction, Stair Galleries. Activities and Attractions: Antiquing, hiking, golfing, canoeing, kayaking. Fishing, hunting, dining, skiing, snowboarding, tubing and lots of upstate rural charm. Catamount ski area has an adventure park with zip lines. Jiminy Peak is a 40 minute drive. Miniature golf, driving range in nearby Hillsdale.
