Sited on the shore of Lake Worth, this historically designated house was built by Count Brooke Capps, son of Fort Worth attorney, developer and newspaper publisher, William Capps. Count Capps, who was in the laundry business and associated with W.B. Fishburn Cleansers and Cascade Laundry, built a guesthouse on the property in 1934. The main house was built a few years later, and Capps and his wife, Reba lived at the lake from 1942 - 1950. "We stayed and had a wonderful time.  The house is beautifully decorated with eclectic items that kept us interested in looking at everything.   The bedroom was very comfortable for a good night's sleep. Barbara was an exceptional host.  The pool and lake were lovely in the morning and we enjoyed our coffee outside while watching the birds.  We will stay again at this house."  Reverend Kate Walker, October 6. 2023 Guests have use of the very large semi private swimming pool. The guest in the guesthouse has access to the pool. Also, there is a newly constructed fishing dock with bench and ladder for guests who prefer lake swimming! This is not a party house, please. I live next door and keep a watchful eye on the property. Count Capps House is a home not a hotel and your respect of the property is imperative. No parties, please. Also, if you encounter a problem, I am next door and a text away. The house was built during the heyday of Casino Amusement Park. Pictures of the park are hung in the hallway of the house. Every window in the house offers a scenic view of either the grounds to the north or the lake to the south. Casino Park is adjacent to the property which is gated and completely private. Very close to shopping, several grocery stores are within 2 miles as well as restaurants within that perimeter: Mexican Inn, Spring Creek, Chiles, Applebees, Ginger Browns, Panda China, Panera. Fast Food: Chick Filet, Taco Cabana, Taco Bueno, Sonic, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Burger King, Popeyes, Chicken Express. Some offer military and senior discounts. Close by are my personal favorite for Tex Mex, Mezcales, who offers a $4.00 margarita and El Paseo who has a 4 - 6 pm Happy Hour. Both have military discounts (but not on the ritas!) Nearby attractions include :Par 3 Golf at HIdden Valley, Fort Worth Nature Center, Greer Island within 1 mile. Stockyards, Billy Bobs, North Fort Worth and Hip Pocket Theater (seasonal) with in 5 miles. Kimbell Art Museum, Amon Carter Art Museum , Modern Art Museum, Fort Worth Zoo, Botanic and Japanese Gardens, Downtown Fort Worth, Bass Hall, Dickies Arena, Will Rogers Collesium within 10 miles. Texas Motor Speedway, Ranger Stadium, Six Flags and Cowboy Stadium within 20 miles. These distances are guesses but if they are not spot on, they are close! Ask me the proximity of any place that is in your travel plans and I will give you my best opinion...the house is less than 2 miles from Loop 820 and 2 blocks off of Jacksboro Highway (199). About a $35 Uber ride from DFW. One of very favourite places to stay in Texas! The Lake House feels like being home. From the moment you drive onto this gorgeous lake front property and walk through that front door you can’t help but kick your shoes off and smile. The House is a charming, spacious home with plenty of room for all. Barbara has a very unique flare when it comes to home decor, mixing contemporary styles with lovely antiques, textiles, art and mementos from years of world travel. Elegant comfort at its best. This is a family home full of history and heart which you can feel in every room of the house. This house has been loved well. Looking out the living room windows to see Lake Worth in the backyard is pretty cool! The lake fills with sunlight and the refection of beautiful big tress is enchanting as well as meditative any time of day or night. If you are a nature lover this is a perfect retreat. My son loves the swimming pool! Chilling out in a lounge chair with dear friends sharing a cold drink watching my son laugh and play in the pool is simply awesome! A home for relaxation and celebration in perfect balance. I’ve never been more comfortable and peaceful anywhere. I highly recommend taking the opportunity to experience this slice of heaven created by such fine hosts. Visited many times, most recently September 2023 Lorca S. The Cotswolds, England Just 15 minutes from downtown Fort Worth, we found seclusion and a sense of peace at this lovely historic home on the lake, in January of 2020.The main living room was spacious with a glass wall revealing the amazing large pool and just beyond that, the lake. There was a cozy kitchen ,3 bedrooms 2 baths and a game room with pool table. There was so much to look at and enjoy in the house. We look forward to a return visit in warmer weather to really enjoy all fun things this property has to offer. Gypsy Moon Wimberly, Texas
