Guest access ACCESS TO RODELLAR: PLANE + CAR OPTION If you are coming from far away, a practical solution is to book a plane ticket as well as a car rental directly at the airport. This increasingly common solution also facilitates the journeys that must be made in Sierra de Guara. Routes and distances: > From Zaragoza Airport: 1 hr 30 min; 125 km. > From Barcelona airport: 3 hours; 250 km. CAR OPTION Only a hundred kilometers from the French border, the Sierra de Guara is very close to the southern regions of France and the Pyrenees. In addition, to allow travel in Sierra de Guara and to get to the meeting places, we recommend the use of a car. Depending on your place of departure, several routes are possible: • Via Pamplona if you are coming from Bayonne and the Basque Country. • Through the Somport tunnel if you come from Pau, Bordeaux and all the western regions of France. • Through the Bielsa-Aragnouet tunnel if you are coming from Toulouse and the central regions (Please note, it is sometimes closed for works, inquire before taking the road). • Via Girona and Lerida if you are coming from Montpellier, and from the east of France. Routes and distances: > From Pau: 3.5 hours; 220 km. > From Bordeaux: 5.5 hours; 450 km. > From Montpellier: 5h30; 570 km. > From Argelès and Gavarnie: 4 hours; 260 km. > From Andorra: 3 hours; 240 km. > From Toulouse: 5 hours; 330 km. At Barbastro take the N-240 towards Huesca. After passing Peraltilla, continue 9 km and turn right at the intersection towards Sierra de Guara. Follow the A-1229 to Abiego. After the village, turn left at the intersection towards Bierge. In this village, turn right onto the A-1230 towards Rodellar. Other things to note Rodellar is one of the 13 villages in the municipality of Bierge in the center of the Province of Huesca (Aragon – Spain). Nestled at an altitude of 740 m, it offers many opportunities for outdoor activities for sports and nature lovers. Kids and teens love this place. Access to a dozen canyons, a via-ferrata, dozens of kilometers of hiking trails, and several hundred climbing routes, some of which are known to the world's elite. For canyoning, we recommend: "Le sens de l'eau". With only about twenty inhabitants in winter, Rodellar is preserved thanks to its geographical isolation in the heart of the Sierra de Guara. However, in summer the village has several bars and restaurants, small grocery stores... Beautiful things to discover: - Swimming areas in the Mascun and Alcanadre. - A walk to the magnificent viewpoint of the hermitage of the Virgen del Castillo overlooking the Mascun. - Privileged access to the Gorgas Negras, Mascun Superior and Balces Superior canyons and their respective tributaries. - Several trails and paths of varying elevations and difficulties. Particularly noteworthy are the hikes to the abandoned villages of Otin, Nazare, Las Bellostas in the north of the Sierra de Guara. - The paths that lead to prehistoric monuments such as the dolmen of Losa Mora, the paths that go to Cheto, Pedruel (passing through the old bridge of Las Cabras which was used for transhumance at the time), the path of Las Almunias de Rodellar in the valley of the Alcanadre with its spectacular views of the Mascun. - A parish dedicated to Santa María Obispo del siglo XVII. LOCAL PRODUCTS: - Ferrer olive oil made in Bierge, - "Sabores de Guara" almonds in Bierge, - Goat and sheep cheese from Radiquero, - Somontano wines, - Honey from Asque. - Spanish cold cuts and hams at the "Arnal" store in Barbastro. There is a grocery store/supermarket in Adahuesca, "Las Abuelas de Sevil", where you can find local products and sports equipment. You also have an "Alimentacion La Herreria" in Abiego. WITHDRAWING MONEY Please note, the only ATM in Sierra de Guara is in Alquezar. If you go to Rodellar, be prepared, otherwise the campsites can help you out for a commission.
