Trudy's Old FUNky OFF GRID MOUNTAIN Cabin: located on a snowmobile/Mt. Bike/Jeep trail: Downstairs, very small, rustic, middle of the cabin room plus the shared front room: 1 single pull out sofa bed, next to wood stove, bookshelves..Kitchenette area, Mountain road/woods hiking within -3 hours N. of Boston... summit (20 minute hike) 360 degree views at the top of a T- shaped Mountain Range! Camping in comfort off grid/outhouse, jug waters. One Person or so..May-Novemberish with a JEEP TRAIL Buckfield, almost to the Top of Streaked Mountain...This place has up to a three unit, OFF GRID, cabin for sleeping/ cooking, sitting outside and gathering in spaces that are "always a work in progress." A shared space kind of place if the upstairs is rented too- noisy at times. Perfect for jeeping, ATV, snowmobiling, hiking, biking, skiing in season, snowshoeing, and or sledding. Access in winter is from 2 different Roads (McCalister or So. Whitman up to 1- 2.5 miles in.) Fishing is in the brooks or South Pond. Mini horses cart rides (off site are 60$. ) The cabin is remote and feels deep up into the woods close to the Summit of Streaked Mountain, Maine USA. Yet, when up at the cabin, if you get a cabin fever itch, it is easy to hike out or drive (in summer) within 20 minutes, to a grocery store or half hour-munching in a restaurant or shopping (minus Cobid restrictions) in either a town or a city. Plus, Optional : entire cabin rental (also renting the Mt. Top UPSTAIRS listing). Upstair's Unit includes 1 kichenette area, one futon bed, and a single, short floor mattress. In a 2nd room (step up and duck a little thru the old window hole) to enter and leave has a queen bed alongside a 7 foot window with a view and a long, single floor mattress. This cabin's cupula 5' sitting room, views all the way across Maine to the Camden/Rockland Atlantic Ocean area. This cabin has a library, feels crowded/very cozy. The land is an historical, farm Homestead known as "The Swan Place." A little redundancy about the whole cabin, but more info: Three units description follows: The Eagle Feather Room, upstairs Unit has a queen Avacado bed alongside a 7 foot window- the sunrise room, plus a single floor mattress. The double futon is in the upstairs kitchenette. (It is in the winter time, a warm and cozy spot when the Ashley wood stove is burning downstairs under it.) Next to the D futon is the ladder to the Cupula room overlooking Eastern Maine to the Coast and the field below where the Eagles Fly and food can grow. Summary: The Eagle room upstairs also has a small "old windows closed in porch " like a small morning-sun room. The "Downstair's Unit or the cabin's middle room is wood stove room. In it is a twin pullout bed, is insulated with barn board decor, has an entrance door plus another door into the 3rd Unit, which is not rented. It is the Owners sound proof apartment she uses with it's it's separate entrance. The 3rd Unit or "front Hawk Room " has a downstair's kitchen area which is easy access while outside or downstairs for anyone to use. It also has a (resting spot) single sleeping couch, and four big windows looking out to the South East side forests, decks plus the roadside door leading out to the West side porch for BBQ. The non rentable cabin's backside 3rd unit is referred to as the "Rabbit Hole Room." It has a Double bed, kitchenette, door into The Skye room with it's loft bed, 2windows and private entrance door opening onto the North East side porch for another BBQ. When Trudy stays at the cabin: she is in the quite soundproof, Rabbit Hole/Sky room area with her own private entrance. If you want her to do pre arranged cooking, she can do that down in the Rabbit Hole's quarters, separated from you all, who are in the other two sections of the cabin. If cold, she initially runs the wood stove in the downstair's middle room where the twin pull out, optional 5th bed is located. Guests have privacy upstairs and down in the front Hawk room. This is a unique, funky ole cabin away from your daily grind. It is a Unique space in South Central Maine! A quiet space, without much outside noise- (no car radios playing without headphones, please). The only sounds are of birds, woods, critters, farming, projects and other dudes temporarily playing with their deep woods toys..down in the valley or up on the mountain sometimes with their fat bikes bicycles or other vehicles to drive up. "Sweet place to chill!!! " as my son Ryan says. But it is not a party house or Recreational Drug/drinking environment. It is more of a sober house type place with those kinds of folks around.. in and out. Guests have the upstairs and the front Hawk room: access to 4 beds, 2 cooking gas stoves and sinks, shared outhouse, grills both wood and gas, firepit, trails and parking (in season only.) Trudy runs the woodstove and anyone can enjoy sitting in the room with the wood stove heat. It is a rustic, cabin really cool (fun and different) kind of place! There is a a fifth bed in that room and a sixth bed in the Skye Room if really needed. I greet my guests...I need to orient my guest to their new and unfamiliar surroundings. I answer questions related to their plans. Cultural matters are always important to communicate about. I absolutely love to have guests! I am totally respectful of guests PRIVACY.. However, we are in a cabin and the systems of operation are important to have my guidance so that sanitation and safely needs are met. Then you are on your own to enjoy sporting The Mountain's roads, woods, and trails. It is a retreat from the concrete! I love it that there are only animal sounds, with few civilization noises. It is quiet with the russle of leaves creaking birds churping..and you are almost at the summit of a mountain with 4K acres surrounding you. This Glamping term is short for " Glamour Camping" and that is exactly what this is, I think ...for just a cabin in the woods. One owner owns everything around this site. His sons may be on road with a jeep. Sometimes others drive by..sneaking past the gated road gate so they can bike or ATV to the top from the road. Use an SUV to drive in.. No public transit. Need an SUV to drive in! This a great place to Hike, ride to on horseback, ATV etc., Fat Bike, Mountain Bike, Motorcycle, or ski, snowshoe, snowmobile when in season. This is a four season cabin rental.
