* Your own private Caboose equipped with sink, toilet, shower, microwave, coffee, Keurig, and linens. * Conveniently located near Interstate 80 (10 minutes) and off Route 220! (5 minutes). * Spend the night in a caboose which sleeps 2. *Enjoy the historic aurora of train life! * Free off-street parking, WiFi, and TV for streaming Netflix. * Caboose is nestled at the Bald Eagle Valley Trail head, for easy access to hiking and biking! Conveniently located near Interstate 80 between Williamsport (home of Little League World Series) and State College (home of Penn State University). Everything in the Caboose has been restored to original condition. Retrofitting has made it possible to have shower, flush toilet, sinks, dinette, microwave, and linens for the beds! This unique space has all the comforts of home, while being able to enjoy history. Guests will have access to the entire inside of the Caboose. There are 2 bunks for sleeping, which provide plenty of room. There is also a regular flush toilet, shower, sink, fridge, coffee maker, microwave, and dinette for sitting. There is also heat and air conditioning depending on the weather outside. Located next to the Caboose is a wonderful kiosk with history of the Castanea Railroad Station. We have very minimal interaction with our guests. We provide a lockbox for guests to be able to enter and leave when they please. We are only present if an emergency arises, as we are only a short 5 minute drive away. The Caboose is located at the Castanea Railroad Station, in Castanea, Pennsylvania. The site of the Caboose is historic in many ways as the Caboose has been situated on tracks with a box car leading. The original train tracks were on the other side of the Railroad Station, but for practical purposes, the parking lot and future Rail to Trails head will be. There is a lovely kiosk that resembles a restored 1930s water tank with historical information of the site. Today, the train station is surrounded in a quiet residential neighborhood. The Caboose is a short drive to more sightseeing, places to eat, and exciting things to do! Parking at the Caboose is free! You don't have to walk more than 20 feet until you get up to the top stairs to the entrance. There is little public transportation available, so driving is a must. You will definitely enjoy this blast from the past!
