Fire Department is volunteer. Boat rentals are available at Sea Hag and Ideal marinas. The area is primitive Florida. No chain stores. No traffic lights. ATVs and golf carts are allowed on roads. Requires slow moving vehicle sign. The department store in town is Dollar General. There is an Ace Hardware open daily except Sunday. Maddie’s Market has gas, hand cut meats and a Subway. They offer 10 cents off gas on Monday. Several restaurants we love are Kathi’ s Krab and the McDavids (only breakfast and lunch) and Hungry Howie’s(pizza and subs). There is a community park at the community center. There are no major chain stores within 40 miles. This area is strictly seasonal hunting and fishing with scallop season in the summer. If you are used to the highlights then this area is not for you.
