This is an amazing house! The Castle is luxuriously appointed with furnishings sourced from Dartbrook Rustic Goods, a famous Adirondack luxury home goods store located across the street. Relax and enjoy the peaceful sounds of the babbling Gulf Brook that runs behind the house as well as hiking, biking, swimming, skiing, and all that Keene has to offer. The Castle features a full kitchen, dining room, living room, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, & 4 porches. The space Built by Monroe "Monk" Hale in 1889, The Castle is a Keene historic landmark. This prominent 3-story Victorian Mansion has been meticulously restored in conjunction with the Historic Society. Centrally located on the main street in Keene, the home is steps from the Ausable River, close to all the High Peak trails and the conveniences of Lake Placid. Meticulous craftsmanship is featured throughout the home with unique Adirondack-style parquet wood floors, walls, and ceilings. Elegant handcrafted plaster woodland murals grace the dining room walls and period staircases rise to the 3rd floor turret room which provides stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The unique details make this truly a one of a kind vacation stay! The 2nd floor has two bedrooms and a shared bath. The master bedroom features a stately King bed made from local Adirondack natural hickory logs. The second bedroom features two Dartbrook black-iron twin beds. Both bedrooms have access to the 2nd floor covered porch that spans the north side of the home. The 3rd floor bedroom features a hand-wrought iron Queen bed and a unique open-concept private bath with a two-person shower, clawfoot tub and back porch overlooking the Gulf Brook that flows through the back yard, providing relaxing water sounds. During the warm summer months there are window AC units. One in each bedroom and one in the living room. The back yard is fully yours to enjoy with Adirondack chairs (of course!) and a large stone fire pit shaded under mature trees and situated next to the babbling brook. Whether you are visiting the scenic High Peaks for fishing, hiking, biking, skiing, dining, shopping, or antiquing, you will thoroughly enjoy relaxing in luxury at this unique, historic Adirondack property! Other things to note We work hard and play hard so we need our rest. There are strict limits on noise levels between 9:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Ordinances will be enforced by any law enforcement agency with jurisdiction over the short-term rental property. A violation of this ordinance will result in termination of the contract. Make sure outdoor fireplaces are left neat and tidy, the same way as when you got to the property. Do not leave trash in or around the fire pits or the yard, it can attract animals. If these areas are left a mess there could be a forfeiture of a portion of your security deposit. If traveling in the snow, we highly recommend having a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The road will be plowed as well as the driveway, but winters in the Adirondacks are beautiful but can sometimes be unpredictable! We will send you arrival instructions via email or AIRBNB feed: Check in time is 4:00pm Check-out time is 10:00am. all the beds have linens, blankets, comforters and towels in the bathrooms at the property for your use. the property is furnished with a start-up supply of paper and soap products. This includes paper towels, toilet paper, dish washing soap, garbage bags.. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING No pets allowed.
