Welcome to the Lilac House. We invite you to step back in time to a gone-by era of nostalgia and forgotten memories. Our goal is to create a feeling of yesteryear and invoke feelings of simpler times. The Lilac house is located in the heart of Panguitch: a 1-2 minute walk to all of the shops on main street. Zion National Park is fairly close (about a 1-hour drive to its east-side, less-crowded entrance), and the world famous Bryce Canyon is just 30 minute away! ABOUT THE NAME The name "Vintage Lilac" or "Lilac House" comes from the 15 aged lilac trees located on and around the property. (Grandma loved her lilac bushes!) During the springtime, the bluish-purple lilac blossoms burst with a violet-colored blossoms and a sweet candy fragrance. And although Panguitch is most famous for its many red-brick, pioneer-built homes, this particular home was built with bricks that have a dark "purple-y" hue to them, perhaps the only one of its kind. Now you know why we named it what we did. COZY-UP! The wood-burning fireplace is definitely available for a guest's use! However, at this time we do not stockpile or provide firewood or kindling for our guests. Firewood can be picked up at various locations in town. Instructions on how to best get a fire going can be found on the last page of our guidebook. CLEANING SURCHARGES For groups/families traveling with 5 or 6 people, there is an additional $13 charge per person per night for the 5th & 6th occupants to cover the additional laundry/cleaning costs. (Really, more people means more cleaning!) Since 2018, we have always strived to keep this charge as low as possible. (And I'm always shocked whenever my wife and I travel and stay at an Airbnb only to pay $150 or even $200!) Our current rate is $59, 100% of which goes to the cleaning crew. We do not keep any of that fee for ourselves. FOR JULY / AUGUST GUESTS ONLY Please note that the home does NOT have a central air-cooling system. However, given the home’s elevation at 6600' above sea level, the home does stay relatively cool throughout the day. And on those rare occasions when it's over 90° in town, there are ceiling fans and portable fans throughout the home. Furthermore, even during the summer, early-morning temps are ALWAYS chilly! We're talking temperatures in the mid 40s and low 50s! And so, feel free to crack open a window at night. . . by morning it'll feel like December! WE GET IT, LIFE HAPPENS Our refund policy is set at "Moderate" by Airbnb's standards; meaning you are given a FULL 100% refund so long as you cancel five or more days prior to your scheduled check-in date! THE BARBI Guests are free to use the propane barbecue grill located just outside the kitchen door. All we ask is that you clean it after using it. Quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am (a city ordinance thing). The door code is sent 1 or 2 days prior to your check-in. I won't be available in person during your visit but I am always available via Airbnb's message board, or email me at host(at)thevintagelilachouse.com Retro. Quaint. Historic. Panguitch is one of the great historic towns of the West. It offers a history and ambience that are truly unique. Walking to the heart of main street from the Vintage Lilac only takes a minute or two. (And the fresh air can't be beat!) More information about our unique town can be found at panguitch(dot)com. And, of course, most of our guests use the Vintage Lilac as a "home base" given its proximity to various National Parks and other nearby attractions. This is ABSOLUTELY a non-smoking facility. Smoking will not be permitted in or around the premises. Failure to observe this requirement will result in an immediate charge of $250 under the Security Deposit clause of Airbnb's rental agreement. (We will be required to wash walls and steam clean furniture to remove the odor.) One of the closets in the main bedroom contains the owner's personal items (clothing, books, pictures) and remains locked during a guest's visit. The basement also contains cleaning supplies and other tools and is not accessible to guests. Guests provide their own meals. If you would like to rent our home for more than 10 consecutive days, please contact us directly to make those arrangements. * * * * * HOUSE RULES The following house rules are strictly enforced to ensure this home remains clean and comfortable for all future guests.
