Private 1BD - 1st Floor of House - Walk 2 Metro

Back w/ upgrades! U get what U pay for :-) This is the 1st floor of a lil' cape cod in a quiet, diverse neighborhood. Easy access to DC, BWI, NY. Walk to NEW CARROLLTON METRO & Amtrak up the corner. Route 50, 495 & 295 are mins away. 20 min to downtown DC. Stay here for the price, kitchen access, commute & quiet. See my note below about the reviews Use SHOW MORE & read EVERYTHING! The space I had a guest stay more than two years and then I wasn't there so I removed the listing. First time back in a while. Space has been cleaned, restocked & there's been some changes. Long term stay possible w/ right situation. I do stay here when I’m in town so if you stayed long term (3+ months) we might have to share the bath a few times a year. I couldn't figure out why the rating was low. I had to scroll down to the "he's not like us." He was crazy - had me sending plumbers, electricians and exterminators none of whom found anything! I was out of town & basically he was just trying to stay free. Also he booked this floor but stayed downstairs so the review is in the wrong place anyway. FOR QUESTIONS - PLEASE USE "CONTACT HOST" - NOT "BOOK A ROOM" if possible ********** Depending on when you come & how long you stay there is a slim slim chance that we would overlap & I'd be in next bedroom. I don't want it anymore than you do so 1. it would never be long 2. i can let you know the likelihood before you book 3. this possibility is already reflected in the price 4. for this reason - females are preferred THIS IS A LEAVE IT AS YOU FOUND IT HOUSE. I'm trying to accommodate people just needing a relatively clean & quiet place to stay - close to the metro & transportation for a reasonable price (before airbnb fees & taxes). I don't charge a cleaning fee - but that means you HAVE to clean up after yourself. If you'd rather pay a cleaning fee - just let me know. YOU You are low maintenance, flexible & open minded with a little sense of adventure. You value a quiet private location within a few minutes walk of the metro & a quick 20 min ride to downtown DC, more than doorknobs, even grout lines & well hung blinds. This is a small old school Cape Cod. This is a 3-story, five room little house. This listing is for full access to the entire 1st floor. There may be a Airbnb guest in the basement. There is a private entrance and they have no access to your floor of the house. The washer & dryer are in the laundry room in the basement; you’ll have weekly access. THE MAIN HOUSE. Main level. The listing is for one bedroom, a full bath, the kitchen and living room. There is little furniture in the house now. Just a small couch in the living room. The pics at the top of the listing are current. There is no carpet so the pics w carpet are older but show different views/angles. There’s a couple of very old TVs but there is no cable or streaming on them. They are so old, there’s a DVD player & old movies, but if you have to have a TV, this might not be the place. The wi-fi will allow you stream to your own devices. There is a fan in the bedroom & a window A/C unit in the living room that usually cools the space pretty well. BEDROOM - Decent sized bedroom with an Ikea Hemnes twin. A guest broke the bed so it can not be pulled out to a king. There is no closet space but there is a big armoire and the bed does have working drawers. KITCHEN You are welcome to use the kitchen, fridge, stove, microwave, etc. to save money on food. There’s plenty of dishes & very old pots, pans, a coffee maker & tea kettle. I stay here when I’m in town so there’s some food. You are welcome to use the water, seasonings, condiments & staples (rice, oatmeal, etc.) until you get to the store. If you take a lot, please replace or leave what you think it’s worth so I can leave some stuff for other guests. THE BATH It’s a small bathroom with a glass bowl and heated tile floors. I did it myself so the grout is uneven & there are knicks in the tub. I haven't properly hung the blinds, so they're just banged into place by hand. You have to open them by hand. MORE Catches - I am a huge DIY'er & the house is a reflection of that - lol. There is some finishing that needs to be done - if you are a perfectionist, (or my mother) you will notice them. If not, you probably won't notice them, nothing glaring. Oh, for some reason the door knobs won't stay on some of the doors. Usually not a problem. I think of it as extra security. (I'll explain later). There is clutter under the deck, and in the mud room (your entry way). Oh, a guest broke the microwave handle so you have to pull it from the top of the handle. It's like quirky kinda stuff. If you are easy going about things you'll be fine. OUTDOORS There is a big backyard and an almost bigger deck that can not be used and should not be accessed. Guest access The entire first floor of the house. Living room, kitchen, bath, bedroom. Parking on the street in front of the house. The washer & dryer is in the basement and can be coordinated with the downstairs guest weekly. Other things to note Ability to cook & save on food. Great commuter location. Lots of things are in walking distance, but we are in a valley & whichever way you go out, you have to go up a hill - great for the thighs.
