The space Secluded staycation spot. Perfect for one or two people to get away! We are located just 2.5 blocks from a very private Mesa Lane beach, and a five minute walk from the Douglas Preserve. The preserve offers spectacular views from the bluffs, and is a great place to walk at sunset. You can also walk to the end of Borton Drive - straight across the street, and walk down to the Boathouse if you stay to the path on your right, or walk the one mile path around the Douglas Preserve and return to Borton Drive or exit at Medcliff and walk back to Mesa Lane. Our gardeners mow the lawn, weed, and sweep every other Thursday usually after noon. Other things to note There are a lot of good restaurants on the Mesa: Mesa Verde, (one of the top vegetarian restaurants in CA.), Cuca’s, Mesa Burger, Mesa Cafe, (closes at 3:00, but has great breakfasts and lunches, and the bar is sometimes open past 3:00 on MWF). The Rose Cafe, (great Mexican food and a nice outdoor seating area- taco Tuesday has 3 tacos for $6.00 and buy one get one free beers!) Ichiban, (Japanese), Meun Fan Thai Cafe are some of the most popular. The Boathouse is about a half mile North. You can walk at low tide, or walk down Borton Drive, across the street. Go to the end of the street, and make a sharp right turn down the path to Cliff Dr. or you can drive there. There are two large Mesa grocery stores- Von’s and Lazy Acres, which has a large selection of local produce, and a cafe with many healthy choices. In addition Mesa Produce is about 3 blocks from the house, just before the Von’s shopping center. They have a good selection of local and organic produce and offer a ten percent discount for seniors. The harbor is only 2 miles away if you like to paddleboard, kayak, or enjoy a nice meal or a cocktail while watching the boats at Brophy’s- a very popular spot for locals and visitors, or have a fish taco at On The Alley. The popular Funk Zone is also about 2 miles away, and includes many fun restaurants and bars. Shalhoob’s has a great happy hour Wednesday and Thursday 3:00 to close and Friday 3:00-5:00. All handheld sandwiches and a beer are $13.00. Just south of the funk zone, down Carrillo Blvd. turn left on Milpas St. - just past the railroad tracks on the left is the Batting Cages and East Beach tacos. Try the triple play- three tacos for $10.00. Or drive a little past Milpas St and just before the volleyball courts at the Carrillo Pavillion enjoy a meal right at the beach at Reunion which has excellent food! Beautiful pickleball courts are about 6 miles away, and the famous East Beach volleyball courts are a 5 mile drive.
