Lake view, amazing sunsets, home sweet home This unique mother-in-law apartment was renovated with a brand new bathroom and kitchen in the Winter of 2013. The original space was constructed in 1998 and used as a bonus room for friends and family. At the base of the stairs to the apartment is our Desert King fig tree, planted in 2000. Feast on the figs (when they are in season). The Fig Tree Suite lake view apartment has roughly 600 sq ft with an open studio layout and sits above a garage looking southwest towards Clear Lake and the Olympic Mountains. You may wake to the sound of a crowing rooster. Ravens, hawks and eagles are common sights from the view off of the balcony. Our resident dog and master of affection is Buddy, and he will certainly do his best to get a belly rub from you. Wifi is available. Our laundry room is on our back porch where you can wash your clothes. Our location is semi-rural, just 4 miles from Mount Vernon. For traveling nurses and professionals we are close to Skagit Valley Hospital in Mount Vernon and Peacehealth in Sedro Woolley. This is an ideal location for the outdoor enthusiast with hiking trails and mountain biking trails close by (one even starts right from the backyard!). The location has easy access to the foothills of the Cascade Mountain Range, Mount Baker, and Skagit River, as well as La Conner, Deception Pass and the San Juan Islands. Located just 70 miles north of Seattle and 50 miles south of the US/Canadian border in Skagit Valley. There is plenty of shopping and dining to be enjoyed, numerous art galleries and museums, and local festivals throughout the year, such as the Bald Eagle Festival, Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, the Anacortes Arts and Crafts Festival. Bellingham is just a 30 minute drive, or you can take your time via the scenic route (45 minutes to an hour) up Chuckanut Drive and take in amazing views of the San Juan Islands. After a day of activity, come back to the Fig Tree suite, relax, have a sip and enjoy the view. Guests will use of the entire apartment, and feel free to roam the property. Parking in specially designated area; there will be a sign in front of the garage for FigTree Parking. Please be mindful of our dog and deer when driving in and out of the property. Check-in and out can be flexible if there are no bookings on either end of your stay. Feel free to ask. We are just next door. If you want to check in, ask questions, or visit, we are available. If you want total privacy, we respect that as well. We are in a semi- rural location, but close to town. So much to explore in the surrounding area- lakes, rivers, mountains and islands. Eagles nest nearby, hawks and falcons, loons on the lake in the early morning hours, and trumpeter swans make the valley their winter home. Public transportation is in town, about 1 1/2 miles away, but it is limited. Best option to have your own car, but cyclists have enjoyed riding around the area. Cleaning fee is adjusted based on length of stay.
