Description
Set on 1600 m² of land, Setsuin is beautifully located in the North Hills area of Hanazono. The house opens onto a creek and a forest, private from the neighbours. The other side faces the East Ridge of Mt. Annupuri, so popular for back country riding. The Hanazono Resort is just a few minutes away by car, or 10-15 minutes on foot. During the summer you can enjoy BBQ in the garden terrace and the golf course is just minutes away. A complimentary Delica car is provided during the winter season. The space **Please note: Setsuin’s neighbouring property will begin house construction from July 7th. The construction team has assured us they will do their best to minimise noise and disruption during your stay.** **Two bedrooms option available during summer season. Inquire for further details** **During the summer season, we are limiting the maximum occupancy from 8 to 6 guests, as the loft does not have air conditioning.** Setsuin has three bedrooms + loft and a large kitchen/dining room with a five-meter-high ceiling. There is also a smaller library/study room. There is a storage space for skis and other outdoor equipment, as well as a garage and laundry room. The master bedroom looks into a tranquil nakaniwa (a Japanese style courtyard), and during the winter you can watch the snowflakes serenely pile up. For those looking to get most out of Niseko's stunning Green Season, the Hanazono Golf Course is just a few hundred meters away, and the breath-taking cycling route around Mt. Annupuri starts just outside the door. Setsuin comes with a Mitsubishi Delica car during the winter season without any additional charge. The roomy car can seat six adults, plus skis and snowboards. Please remember that you need an international driving license to drive in Japan, in addition to your national license. Or a Japanese license. Setsuin is registered as hotel (license no 986) with the Kutchan, Hokkaido authorities. Other things to note Niseko is known the world over as a powder paradise. Some think that once the lifts have closed in early May, it’s all over until the next ski season. Nothing can be further from the truth. It might have been the case years ago, but certainly not today. There are lots of attractive summer activities. The "Green Season" is obviously very different, but today equally exciting. Summers in Niseko are chock-full of exciting activities. Five golf courses within 30 minutes drive from Setsuin (the nearest only minutes away) are just the start. While the famous Niseko powder is enough to attract visitors during the winter, a lot of effort has been made during the past decade to create attractive summer activities for all types of visitors. There is a practical reason for this. While many hotels, pensions, shops, and restaurants simply used to close during the summer, this is no longer viable. The service industry in the Niseko area has reached such a level of quality and sophistication that it’s critical to keep trained staff on the payroll for the longer term. Hotels and various services have to stay open all year. The result is good for us all. Niseko today offers an amazing range of summer activities. Also, many top restaurants stay open during the summer, especially from July to September. Today, Niseko is being recognized as one of Japan’s top summer destinations. Here is Japan Times’ recent report from the Niseko summer (including some nice words about Setsuin.) For many, golf first comes to mind. The beautiful Hanazono golf course (Hanazono Golf) is just a few hundred meters away from Setsuin. But that is just the beginning. There are four different golf courses in the Niseko area, and as many as nine are a less-than-45-minute drive away from Setsuin. Some of these golf courses also offer onsen (hot spring baths). The list of activities, besides golf, is long: cycling, nature tours with off-road-equipped Segways, trekking along mountain trails, horseback riding, and mountain biking – nearby Kutchan recently opened a flow trail. There are lots of water-related activities: rafting, canoeing, canyoneering in the creeks, paddle boarding, and sea kayaking. And don’t forget fly-fishing. For those who prefer to be airborne, Niseko also offers paragliding and hot air ballooning, as well as – a bit closer to earth – tree trekking and Japan’s longest zip line. The beautiful Shakotan National Park, with its dramatic coastline and clear waters, is around 90 minutes away. Here, many marine activities are available, including scuba diving. Another famous scuba diving and snorkeling spot is Lake Shikotsu. Less than an hour’s drive from Setsuin, Shikotsu is one of Japan’s most beautiful lakes, and famous among scuba divers for its crystal-clear water. There are also cultural activities like farm visits, cooking classes, craft workshops, and music events. The historic city of Otaru is about an hour’s drive away, as is Yoichi, where you can find Japan’s oldest whisky distillery, Nikka (voted as the world’s best single malt whisky in 2008). Around Yoichi, you will also find vineyards that are open to the public. And after an active, fun-filled day, what can be better than BBQ on Setsuin's terrace? Detailed printed information about activities and programs from different organizers is available at Setsuin. One of the main organizers is Hanazono Resort, just minutes away on foot from Setsuin (Hanazono Resort). Registration Details Hotels and Inns Business Act | 北海道倶知安保健所 | 後保生第 986 号指令
