History & Culture in Old Town Chania

Live in a real Chania home, built over 150 years ago with Venetian beginnings and Ottoman additions, and enjoyed by families throughout the years in various stages of the history of Chania. A bright and airy home, it is centrally located in the Old Town in a locals neighborhood and very convenient to all the area has to offer, architecture, culture, and of course, food! The space Enter the historic home from the cobblestone pedestrian street in Plateia Rouga square, within steps from all the restaurants and shops yet tucked away in a picturesque little neighborhood. Walk up a flight of the large original wooden staircase, and from the first floor hallway unlock the wooden French-style doors into this atmospheric apartment, where you will find the living area, open plan kitchen, and bathroom. The apartment is furnished with antiques and original artwork and books, as well as a Marshall bluetooth speaker, and is just as the owner, who is a photographer of food and culture, has furnished it. The bedroom is also entered from a separate (locked) door from the hallway, and has a perfect view onto the square. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and cleaning (with a gas stovetop, electric oven, dishwasher, full fridge, toaster, water boiler, and French Press coffee plunger). There is a quaint balcony with a little cafe table off the side of the kitchen where one can sit for coffee, tea, and breakfast, or just to enjoy the outside. There is a 32-inch TV with cable channels, free unlimited wifi, and air conditioning in the living room and bedroom as well as ceiling fans for natural, healthy cooling in the summer. In the cooler, winter months, there is a thermostat that keeps the apartment at a steady, warm temperature in all the rooms with central radiator heat. Other things to note Please note, this historic house is split into three apartments. The hallway of the top two apartments is for your apartment and the upstairs 2nd floor apartment, where the owner lives, and so the entrance is from the shared hallway, but each apartment has its private entry doors with locks. When leaving the bedroom for the living area one enters the hallway and then into the main living space. The ground floor apartment (History & Charm on Airbnb) has its own separate entrance from outside and accommodates 2-3 people.
