Description

Scroll down for English! Dear guests. Welcome to our beautiful and welcoming home! The house that hosts you has been renovated and arranged to ensure maximum functionality and comfort for its guests. It was the permanent residence of two large families and hosted several friends and relatives from time to time, before welcoming you. The space The building consists of three different buildings: The Venetian building, which was one of the two twin vaulted buildings used as warehouses during the Venetian occupation. That's why it's known as the "Dome". When it was purchased by the first resident, Evangelos Kontaxakis, son of Georgios, there were only the East and West walls. The vaulted roof had fallen as well as the South and North walls. The second building was created in the 1930s and the vaulted roof was replaced by a concrete flat roof. In the 1940s, another new building was added to the existing Venetian building, thus forming the house that would meet the needs of the new owner. The building that hosts you has the following spaces for rent: Comfortable kitchen, comfortable dining room, 3 bedrooms (with 1 double bed and 1 single bed and a crib in the first bedroom, 1 double bed and 1 single bed in the second bedroom and 1 double bed in the third bedroom) of which the two bedrooms belong to the Venetian building and communicate with an internal wooden staircase. There are also 2 bathrooms (one on the floor and one on the ground floor, outside), balconies overlooking the mountain and the sea, and a comfortable courtyard. Our home has all the necessary hotel equipment to meet your main needs during your stay. The decoration of the house consists of simple, authentic, traditional furniture, and objects adapted to its character. Some of the furniture in our house has been preserved since 1940 and are family heirlooms. Inside the living room of the house there is a water tank carved into a solid rock. In times when there was no water supply network, rainwater from the roof of the house was transported to the tank and stored in order to meet household needs. The house is located in the center of the settlement "Archontiki" of the Municipality of Rethymno. Archontiki (or Arkoudaina) is today one of the traditional settlements of the prefecture of Rethymno, characterized by a presidential decree. Archontiki has been known since the Venetian years, while the village was completely burned by the Turks in 1866. The settlement preserves in good condition many buildings characteristic of the Venetian occupation, with their special architectural physiognomy, a number of characteristic stairs, winding streets, lodges, etc. The entire settlement is a historical monument, with a protection radius of 1 km from its visible boundaries. In the neighboring village of Argyroupoli is located the Ancient Lappa, as well as its impressive Roman cemetery. In the neighboring village of Fylaki, a vaulted tomb of the 2nd millennium BC has been found. The European path E4 passes through a neighboring village. Archontiki is 4 km from the springs of Argyroupolis, 12 km from the lake of Kournas, 4 km from the beach of Episkopi, 24 km from Rethymno, 13.4 km from Georgioupolis, 10 km from Asi Gonia, 53.4 km from Chania. In Argyroupoli and Episkopi you will find fully equipped supermarkets and pharmacies for your needs, while in our village there are traditional cafes. Dear visitors. Welcome to our beautiful and hospitable house! The house that hosts you has been restored and renovated and it ensures maximum functionality and comfort to its guests. It was a permanent residence of two large families and occasionally hosted several friends and relatives before welcoming you. The house consists of three different buildings: The Venetian building which was one of the two twin vaulted buildings that were used as warehouses during the Venetian rule. In our home, you will enjoy: A comfortable kitchen, comfortable dining room, 3 bedrooms (with 1 double bed, 1 single bed and a baby cot in the first bedroom, 1 double bed and 1 single bed in the second bedroom and 1 double bed in the third bedroom).
