The Finca is located in the middle of nature, which means that it is very likely that while you enjoy your walks in the extensive green areas, you will be accompanied by certain “cuates” (as we say in Mexico) such as flies, bees, wasps, spiders (the occasional spider web), the meadow will itch, the birds will want to share an unforgettable moment with you, the lizards will want to accompany you around the corners of the house and the occasional mouse will flee at hearing strange footsteps approaching. We know that the countryside is not necessarily for everyone and it is probably not the accommodation you are looking for, but if you adjust your expectations a little, keep an open mind while trying to take advantage of the experience discovering the peace that can be found in the silence and the opportunities that the countryside presents, we assure you that you will be surprised and will remember the visit for many years. Location Located in the heart of the Tiétar Valley, this estate has the best of both worlds. It is isolated enough to be totally private — the nearest house is 1.8 kilometers away — but at the same time, to the southwest and only 1 kilometer away, you will find the entrance to the nearest village, La Iglesuela del Tiétar. It is a charming village that still retains its traditional architecture with the typical characteristics of the mountainous constructions of Ávila. Cantilevered roofs, balconies on some facades, and long roof profiles are some of the most significant features. The town's boundaries even go up the slopes of Gredos. To the northeast and just 10 kilometers away is La Adrada, one of Spain's magical villages. This village sits at the foot of a hill on which a castle was erected that was a temporary residence of Enrique III, Juan II, Enrique IV and which even received a visit from the Catholic Monarchs. This great monument has been restored thanks to its transfer to the City Council by the García Moreno family - former owners of the castle - and the impulse of several institutions that have transformed it into the Historical Interpretation Center of the Tiétar Valley. A pool The property has a saltwater chlorination pool with the following measurements: Length 10 meters Width 4.20 meters Depth from 1.15 to 2 meters. One of the biggest advantages of salt chlorination as a pool water cleaning system is that the chlorine comes from salt, and not from harsh chemicals as with traditional chlorine, which leaves traces of substances that are harsh on the skin and eyes. Saline chlorination, on the other hand, does not irritate the eyes or skin, nor does it damage the hair. The salt level of these pools is remarkably lower than the salt level in the sea, specifically one tenth or less, as salty as a tear. The water does not have that characteristic smell of chlorine pools. It's a more natural and healthier option. Green Areas We encourage our guests to explore the 20,000 square meters of the property, take walks through the extensive green areas or on the perimeter road. The property is surrounded in its entirety by flowering hedges - each season of the year you will discover different colors and smells - these will keep your walks completely private. Throughout the year, but especially in spring and fall, you will be surprised by the amount of wildlife you can observe, such as wild boars, foxes, wild cats, weasels, deer, roe deer, hares, rabbits, not to mention cows and horses. If you are a bird watcher, consider that the property is very close to a ZEPA (Special Protection Area for Birds) area, so you can continuously observe species such as: booted eagles, snake eagles, black kites, red kites, hawks, griffon vultures, black vultures, partridges, white storks, swallows, swifts, common airplanes, sparrows, hoopoes, cuckoos, goldfinches, Turkish pigeons, calandrias, cascadeñas, oropéndolas, common blackbirds, and great tits, to name a few. Fun fact: if you're lucky you can see white storks walking around the farm looking for mowing remains to form their nests in the tower of the Iglesuela. They currently live there all year round. Corners of the estate The hen house, the orchard, the rocking swing, the hammocks, the “pikiniki” table (Alberto calls it that in a playful way because of the time he spent designing it), the pergola with rose bushes and the bench swing are just some of the “little corners” on the farm designed to make each of these an unforgettable experience. Sustainability The house is not connected to the electricity grid. This is a self-sustaining house. Therefore, taking advantage of the resources of our environment to minimize our carbon footprint, the house works completely with clean energies such as the sun and air. With this, we will offset the carbon footprint of your trip to the farm. We have a state-of-the-art solar and wind self-consumption system. As a guest of this property, you'll receive a complimentary basket with local handicrafts to be part of the Tiétar Valley experience. We look forward to seeing you soon! Guest access The entire space will be yours and your group's during the stay. You are free to use every corner of the property. Please enjoy the Finca and make yourself at home.
