Walk to shops, restaurants, bars, and a few wedding venues. Parking and charging for electric cars is available. All travelers are welcome. Please be kind and respectful of the space. Interested in a longer stay, but don't see the dates you need? Message me, as dates may be available. 16% off 7-day stays and 36% off 28+ days. The space The upstairs, downtown space is in the heart of Marshall! A short walk to restaurants, shopping, local theaters, museums, and several wedding venues. It's a perfect location for participating in our many local events, including the Marshall Historic Home Tour, Candlelight Walking Tour, Blues Festival, and the 4th of July Cruise to the Fountain. We are 5 miles from FireKeepers Casino and a short drive to Albion and Battle Creek. Your accommodations are one large bedroom with a Queen-size bed and an attached full bath. The large bathroom has a roomy, stand-up shower (no bathtub). The bedroom and bath are located on the second floor, adjacent to my office space. The bathroom is attached to your bedroom, and both have locking doors. You will also have full access to the kitchen, dining area, and sitting area. This space was designed as an apartment, so it has everything you need. The area outside the bedroom and bathroom is considered a common area, but only during office hours. The area includes the kitchen, dining area, sitting area, and a hallway to my office. I am in and out of my office some weekdays between 9:30 and 6:30, though I travel often and also work from other locations. The downstairs business is open Mon-Sat, and you may hear some noise, though I have yet to have a guest complain that it's a bother. The business below is open Mon-Fri from 7 to 6 and Sat from 9 to 1, so after those hours, it's quiet. Continental breakfast items and beverages are available for guests in our kitchen area. If you have specific dietary needs, I'm happy to accommodate them with enough notice. There is a full-size refrigerator, a microwave, a stovetop (please don't bake or fry anything that's greasy or smells strongly; there isn't a stove fan to ventilate), and a dishwasher for your use. The kitchen has basic dishes, a few pots & pans, an electric teapot, a Kuerig, utensils, a can-opener, a corkscrew, salt & pepper, paper towels, dish soap, and dish towels. Please clean up after yourself in the kitchen and dining area. There is a private entrance and plenty of free parking. On occasion, the free parking fills up because of special events, but we have our own private parking spaces nearby. If you have an electric vehicle, there are charging stations in a lot next to our building, which can be used for both day and night charging and parking. Guest access The large bedroom is private and has inside door locks. The bathroom is attached. The rest of the space is common space. My workspaces are separate from the bedroom, and I don't utilize the common space much when I have guests. I occasionally use the kitchen area for lunch preparation. All common spaces are regularly cleaned and sanitized. Unfortunately, our location is not handicap accessible as it's on the 2nd floor. During your stay I prefer to meet first-time guests upon arrival to explain the Airbnb layout and other things I think it's important for guests to know. I also enjoy meeting guests! On weekdays, I may be in or around the office up until 6 pm or so. I can answer questions about the area, give suggestions, or chat. If privacy is what you're looking for, I won't bother you after check-in unless you need me. Other things to note The Airbnb is located right downtown on Michigan Ave, which is the main thoroughfare of Marshall. Therefore, there is some traffic noise. The noise typically dies down by 11 pm. Traffic noise hasn't been an issue with the majority of previous guests, and guests often tell me they didn't notice it. Others, particularly light sleepers, have been bothered by it. I have both a ceiling fan and an oscillating fan that can help with masking noise if needed.
