Our large three bedroom/ three bathroom farmhouse is available for stays throughout the late spring, summer and early fall seasons. We are located a short drive from the Taconic Parkway and off of a very quiet country road. The space About the Land: You will have access to 30 acres of lawn, gardens, and woodlands. There is a pond with a landscaped stream serving it as well as a 20' x 35' solar heated pool directly adjacent (it has gotten up to 90 degrees in previous summers, but it starts out a bit chillier in the beginning months ). The property was originally about 500 acres, but in order to make the purchase in 1972, my parents parceled it into five and sold it among their friends and relatives. This has preserved the development around us in a good way. You cannot see any neighboring buildings from the property and walking on our road, it would probably take you about 10 minutes to find a neighbor. There are horse, sheep, goat and cow farms around us, though you do not smell them. In the g00gle view map you can see many structures on the site: two sheds/barns, one tennis shower house, production garden, the cottage and what we call the main house. The sheds/barns remain intact and are used for storage. The tennis shower house remains unoccupied and un-restored. About the house- It was built a bit before 1900. My family renovated in the early 2000s and we generally make improvements to it and the property every year: replace furniture, lighting, area rugs, painting, etc. It is served by a well and a septic system. Everything is very well maintained and we respond quickly if you should have any complaints or concerns. That being said, it is an old country house and things can happen. Downstairs has a spacious open kitchen with lots of light and counter space, a five burner gas stove, refrigerator, country sink and dishwasher; separate dining room, living room, sitting room and full bathroom. There is a large terrace directly off of the living room and dining room with views to the woods as well as the pond and stream. Upstairs has three large bedrooms (two bedrooms have queen size beds and the third bedroom has two twin beds and a arts and crafts table), one and a half bathrooms, and a washer/dryer room. We supply outdoor furniture with cushions, BBQ and a hammock. The pool is yours but we occasionally use it when we clean it or after morning workouts. Even though the pool is serviced weekly, there is a skimmer available to do daily bug and frog skims. No pets please- sorry! Directions: We are located about an 1 hour and 45 minutes north of NYC, five minutes off of the Taconic Parkway. The town of Pine Plains (6 minute drive) has a grocery store, post office, pharmacy, a couple bars and restaurants, laundry mat, an opera house, Stewart's convenience store and a liquor store. The more popular towns are: Rhinebeck (15-20 minute drive), Hudson (25-30 minute drive), Red Hook (20 minute drive), Germantown (15 Minute drive), Tivoli (15-20 minute drive), Millerton (20 minute drive) Kingston (25-30 minute drive), Copake (15 minute drive), and Ancram (5-10 minute drive). We are pretty centrally located to everything and can help you with whatever you are looking to do. Guest access Guests should feel free to explore the properties gardens and woods. Please be aware that there are ticks in this area so you should check yourself and small children after roaming around. Other things to note There is a medium sized pond with a stream feeding it. Small children should be watched as there isn't a fence around it. There are also lots of fish including bass and koi, but please do not fish in our pond.
