Galleywinter Farm House - East Room
The east room of our modern farmhouse is ideal for a single guest or a couple. (The pricing is for an individual so please see the extra guest charge of $35 for a couple). This room has wonderful spring colors and dappled light with a big window overlooking hardwood forest and skylight. Very comfortable double bed with all cotton linens. Adjacent to a full bath and our library and reading area. The space Our whole farm fosters a sense of connection with nature, deep restfulness and relaxation. Our yoga and mediation studio is just 30’ from the house and offers a calming space to sit, stretch, or practice yoga. Enter the studio through the shade garden or have a sit on soapstone stool. Inside enjoy the quiet space, the poplar and maple walls and floor, woods view, birdsong and whatever your awareness brings into focus. Guest access Front porch access takes you straight up one flight of stairs to your room. A full bathroom equipped with natural fiber towels, shampoo and body wash, and other amenties (should you leave something essential at home). Park your car adjacent to the herb and flower garden stone walkway. This brings you to the back door entrance. You are welcome to explore our outdoor areas on your own. Private woods with walking paths allow you to commune with trees and plants, find a meditation sit spot, and be close to our horse herds. This is all close to the house and your room. During your stay We want you to feel relaxed and at home while staying with us at Galleywinter Farm. We welcome you to learn about local farming and the Nelson County Rockfish area. We are happy to provide local information that is of interest to you. We are very familiar with all this amazing area has to offer visitors and newcomers. We welcome people from all walks of life. Other things to note We have a 3 floor farm house with bedrooms upstairs, a common area with living room and two twin beds on the ground floor, and a Rustic Barn bedroom. In total, we can sleep 10 people if all the beds are needed. The upstairs rooms have aesthetically pleasing décor with restful colors, ample natural light, hardwood floors, ceiling fans for summer comfort, and lovely views of the woods or mountains. These spaces are perfect for a Writer's Retreat: each room has a writing desk, a view to go with it and the library nearby to feed your creative spirit. These other rooms are available and listed separately: The West Room - Azure and Sage colors | Double Occupancy/full bed. This private upstairs room has a big window facing the West and setting sun. From your bed you can look out into hardwood and white pine forest. We have a paper shade for added privacy and to block the afternoon sun. The writing nook alcove has a gorgeous view of the garden, horse pastures and the Blue Ridge a few miles away. Full size bed with all cotton linens. Adjacent to Full Bath and Library & reading area. The South Room – A Writer’s Room | Single Occupancy: This private upstairs room has a big window facing the South and the shade garden of the yoga and meditation studio. From bed you can look out into the treetops of our Hardwood Forest. We have a paper shade for added privacy and to block the midday sun. Large glass-top desk at the window allows for writing projects to spread out and then come together. Walnut Single bed with all cotton linens and plenty of pillows to find just the right one for your sleeping comfort. Adjacent to Full Bath and Library & reading area. The Barn: A birch and locust single bed with large private living area above 4 horse stalls that are usually empty at night. Vaulted ceiling and lots of natural wood - pine floor, poplar walls, walnut and hickory trim. Truly a delight for nature lovers, writers, artists, and free spirits.
