18 Lake Stunning View of Champlain in Adirondacks

Welcome to 18 Lake. Situated in beautiful, quiet, Port Kent, NY, this gem is the perfect place to relax and get away. People come from all across the country to tour this charming area on bicycles in summer, and from all over the world during the winter for Lake Placid's winter sports. In fall, the colors are vibrant and breathtaking. Fresh maple products are on tap in Spring. Enjoy area attractions such as Ausable Chasm, High Falls Gorge, Port Kent Beach, golf, orchards, hiking and biking. The space There are train tracks located in between the house and the lake. You must either really love trains, or should be someone who sleeps really soundly. Though we have gotten used to the train whistles/horns, a newcomer to the experience may find the occasional noise disturbing. Some nights there are up to three trains that pass, and some nights there are none at all. It's just something that you should know in advance and keep in mind as you decide where to book. Also, like many homes in New England, this home was built without air conditioning. We installed room air conditioners for the bedrooms in June 2020. There is a one-car garage, but no remote, so you will have to open the garage manually. Please be mindful that the canoe is in the garage and that the driveway slopes down at a slight angle from the street, so you’ll want to be a skilled driver when parking in the garage. Entry is through the front door, which has an electronic keypad. You will be provided with an entry code for the keypad prior to your arrival. Guest access The mid-level and attic areas are furnished and available for guest use. The main and upper level decks provide an exceptional view of the lake. The basement level bedrooms and living areas are “under construction", but no work will be done at all on days or nights when guests are occupying the house. These areas are unavailable for guest use and behind a locked door. Partial basement access is always available for the washer and dryer as well as accessing the sports equipment. This area is easily accessible when entering the basement. Please avoid the locked storage room in the attic that is at the top of the stairs on the left. Other things to note Our listing shows up when searching "Burlington" and "Vermont", but we are in New York. There is a ferry that runs from Plattsburgh, NY across to Vermont year-round. The ferry dock is a 25-minute drive from our house. While our location is very near the Port Kent marina. We do not offer boat parking anywhere on our property. Our driveway can accommodate 2 vehicles comfortably. Street parking is not permitted. Please note that we have a three-night minimum (an Airbnb bug will sometimes erroneously allow for someone to book for one or two nights, but we cannot honor a booking made for less than 3-nights). We are currently only accepting instant bookings from guests who have previous Airbnb reviews. Additionally, the nightly price is set for 4 guests. Our house can accommodate up to 6 guests, but please be aware that each additional guest after 4 will incur a $10/per person (per night) charge. Also, check-out time is 11am and check-in time is not until 3pm. Please respect these guidelines. Housekeeping really needs this time to do their thorough, recommended COVID cleaning.
