Blue Heron Cabin
Blue Heron Cabin sits on a 291 acre wildlife preserve. It has an active Great Blue Heron rookery on site, a Bald Eagle nest and a huge variety of waterfowl and wildlife. Easy access off Hwy 2. Private 35-acre lake for fishing and kayaking on site. Two kayaks with life jackets. Boat & trailer parking at cabin. Public boat launch into Pend Oreille River directly across the street; public beach and playground. Children welcome. Books & toys. 55" TV. The space There are two queen beds and one queen hide-a-bed. The kitchen is fully stocked with pans, dishes and utensils, coffee maker, toaster oven, microwave, crock pot, hand mixer, food processor, coffee, tea and cocoa. Starlink Satellite Internet is available, with an HDMI cable to connect your laptop to the TV. Guests can watch their streaming internet services or watch movies on YouTube. Guests can cook over an open fire in the back yard. There is a gas range, dishwasher and refrigerator, washer & dryer. Binoculars are provided for wildlife watching. The Priest River Recreation Area is directly across the street with public beach, playground, picnic tables, boat launch, and trailer parking. Guests can swim at the public beach, watch wildlife, photograph wildlife, or launch their boat into the Pend Oreille River, which is directly connected to Lake Pend Oreille. Boat and trailer can be parked at this cabin. In addition, the cabin has a private 35 acre lake with lots of fish. Kayaks are for use in this lake. An adjacent public lake with boat launch is stocked by Idaho Fish & Game. GPS is glitchy. Please check driving directions in house manual. Guest access The entire cabin is included in a private space. Guests may come and go as they please. There is plenty of parking space next to the cabin for boats and trailers. Other things to note The wildlife preserve has a herd of white tail deer, frequent elk presence, occasional moose presence. In 24 years and thousands of hours out in the preserve photographing wildlife, we have never been confronted with a wild animal; but they are out there. Keep a safe distance from wild animals if you see them. Guests are responsible to use good judgment and be responsible for their own safety.
