Description
Enjoy the sounds of nature when you stay in this unique place, the Cense d'Hortésie wigwam. A wigwam is the traditional tent of the First Nations of northern United States and Canada. This one has a hemispherical shape. More than a home, sleeping in a wigwam is an experience, a real adventure. Sleeping in the middle of nature, making a fire to warm up, washing like our great-grandparents, far from Wi-Fi, this will change your daily life. The space The wigwam was built on a raised wooden floor. Approximately 40 m2 in one piece, it has two doors and 4 windows that allow you to be in direct contact with nature. It has a 160 cm bed that can be separated into two 80 cm beds. It also has an old-fashioned toilet (washbasin and pitcher) with bath towels, a wood stove, antique dishes, a Bluetooth speaker and everything you need to make tea or coffee. The dry toilet is nearby and allows you to minimize your ecological footprint during your stay at La Cense d'Hortésie. A solar shower has been installed; of course, the water only heats up when there is enough sun. You of course have access to drinking water and we have provided you with everything you need to do your small dishes. Please note: the Cense d'Hortésie wigwam is a tent. It's a beautiful tent, but it's still a tent: there's no insulation and at night, when the fire goes out, the outside temperature and the inside temperature tend to balance out. Fortunately, we're not in Canada where temperatures can drop to -30°! So just light or relight the wood stove so that the temperature is quite pleasant and that with your sweater or wrapped in the soft blankets provided, you have a very pleasant evening... The wigwam does not have a kitchen: guests can use the barbecue, but it is not allowed, for safety and odor reasons, to cook in the tent. The wigwam also does not have a fridge: travelers can go shopping in the surrounding area on a daily basis and snack, or enjoy the many snacks and restaurants nearby. Guest access La Cense d'Hortésie has a private parking space where you can leave your vehicle, a short distance from the wigwam. During the winter, when the ground is less passable, you can unload your luggage and then park your vehicle in the parking lot of the Wodecq communal school, which is 150 meters away. You will have access to the garden forest, flowering meadow, orchard, "nap bar", outdoor fitness equipment. The Cense d'Hortésie wigwam is difficult to access by public transport. The easiest way is to take a TEC bus line 87 that runs between Lessines station and Ronse-Renaix station, and get off at the Ogy-Wastenne stop. You will then be 2.2 km from the Cense d'Hortésie, between 20' and 30' on foot. A friendly motorist may drop you off in the village of Wodecq... Other things to note The Cense d'Hortésie wigwam is a tent that would be described today as "glamping". The wigwam is equipped with a wood-burning stove where you can warm up when the temperatures have cooled down… Blankets and plaids are provided in addition to the wood-burning stove so you can have a pleasant stay even in autumn, winter and early spring, when the nights are cold. The wigwam is in the middle of nature. Forget your patent leather shoes and pumps and opt for your walking shoes. You have to take off your shoes in the wigwam, so also bring your indoor shoes or slippers. The wigwam does not have a kitchen: guests can use the barbecue, but it is not allowed, for safety and odor reasons, to cook in the tent (camping stoves prohibited). The wigwam therefore also does not have a fridge: travelers can however go shopping in the surrounding area on a daily basis and snack, or enjoy the many snacks and restaurants nearby.
