Description

Featuring space for 12 guests, this house is large enough to accommodate multiple families, but cozy enough that a romantic couple feels right at home. This charming 1937 beach house is the perfect getaway. 5 minute walk to the beach & downtown The space Come to the Pirate's Cove Beach House. Built in 1937, this house has charm and an old school vintage feel. The main floor has a queen sized bedroom, bunk room and two full bathrooms. The second story has another queen sized bedroom with a peek of the ocean on nice days, a bedroom with a queen and twin bed as well as a large full bathroom. As a note - the bunk room is a converted garage - it has a heater, and if the door is opened from the main house to the bunk room the primary heating source (pellet stove) will heat the whole area as well. Sometimes if this room has been closed up it can have a "musty" smell - due to the age of the house, the fact that it is located at the beach and that it is a converted space. Open the door to the main house and the window in the bunk room to help air it out upon arrival. Linens are provided and folded on each bunk - you will need to make up however many beds you need to use in the bunk area. The bunk room is best suited to older kids (about age 6 and older) to adults. The lowest bunk is about 3 feet off the ground and has no guard rail. The top bunk is very high (about 6 feet off the ground). There are no guard rails. The floor is concrete with a thin rug covering it - small children or others who are "active sleepers" and may roll out of bed should not use the bunk room. Also note that the decor of this room is pirate themed (please see pictures) - some children may not be comfortable sleeping in this space. If you have children with you they may be more comfortable in other rooms of the house, or this house may not be suited to your group. Please review the pictures in details and message us if you have questions about the use of the bunk room. Parties of 12 assume that each queen bed (2) will have two people and that all of the bunks in the bunk room will be occupied. Be sure to read on for details about the bunk room and suitability of this space for sleeping children - no guard rails on bunks that are very high. The living room has a 40” flat screen TV streaming Netflix, a bluray player, and a VCR with an extensive VHS collection. There is also a TV in both of the Queen sized bedrooms. In addition, if you are into vintage gaming, the house has a Sega Genesis, an original Playstation, and a Nintendo 64 with a selection of games for each. For those that are really old school, we also have a great collection of board games. The kitchen is fully stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, plates, etc. Also note that there is no dishwasher or garbage disposal. The kitchen is very functional but is also low tech. Overall the feel of the house is very "comfy"; imagine you are visiting your aunt and uncle's house where you have been going for decades - it isn't fancy, but it is a nice break away from it all. This is very much in style with the overall laid-back feeling of the town of Rockaway. We use our house as a family getaway to enjoy relaxing times with friends and family. If you are looking for a pristine newly built home with an all new interior, this house is not for you. This home is best suited for families or groups of friends who enjoy getting out to the wild Oregon coast to enjoy some time at the beach, some good food, and good times. If you like sand between your toes and hanging out in a comfortable space, this house may be perfect for you. Outside, there is a carport with a charcoal grill for making some tasty dinners. This house is dog friendly! Please let us know if you plan on bringing a four-legged family member with you. Dogs are subject to approval and must be well trained, housebroken dogs. We limit the number of dogs to 2 per stay. There is a flat fee pet per stay. Other pets, such as cats, are not approved for this property. Dogs may not be left alone in the house at any time. Summary of amenities: •Beds: 3 Queens, 7 twins •Entertainment: 3 Smart TVs with Fubo streaming live TV, App streaming enabled and DVD players. Main TV includes Blu-ray player, and streaming Netflix. •Gaming: Vintage gaming consoles including – Nintendo 64, Playstation (original) •Video library – extensive VHS collection •Internet with Wi-Fi •Board games •Linens included •Off street parking for 3 cars •Rolling cooler and backpack style beach chairs •Sand buckets and digging equipment •Quick 5 minute walk to the store - this house is about 6 small town blocks away from- restaurants, bars and the beach! Guest access You will have access to the entire house. However, if your party is small enough to use the main house without the bunk room please do not use any of the beds in the bunk room to cut down on the cleaning time needed to reset the house. If you have 7 people or less we are charging you less due to the decrease in laundry. Please help us continue to keep the costs low by not swapping beds each night using up each of the linens over the course of your stay. Other things to note Parking is available for up to 3 cars, there is a carport and a graveled space in front of the house. If you use the carport please pull up the side road, past the house and back your car in. That way when you leave you won't be trying to back up the gravel road and end up spinning your wheels. The house has a pellet stove which turns on with the thermostat, operation instructions are in the house - if you aren't comfortable with the stove please use the electric heaters installed in the wall of each room. Garbage - garbage is picked up on Monday mornings. The service will get the can where it is located on the rocks outside the side of house near the carport. Be sure it the can is available and not blocked. If you are there on a Sunday night take all garbage out that evening to ensure that as much garbage as possible gets picked up. Be sure to read the "additional details" listed by the House Rules.
