Mink Island Waterfront Cottage - Alexandria Bay

The Mink Island Guest cottage built in 2015 features barn wood walls & beams with vaulted ceilings and windows in all directions. The fully equipted kitchen, and comfortable living spaces & bedrooms make for a relaxing vacation. The outdoor shower and wrap around porch are a few of the guests favorite features...the quiet view of sunsets and tankers on the St. Lawrence River is what keeps guests coming back year after year. Enjoy a 3 minute youtube video- “mink island guest cottage" The space Relax in the eclectic 3 bedroom cottage on friendly Mink Island which has the some of the best views of the 1000 islands and St. Lawrence River. The cottage is only accessible by boat. There are several marinas in the area that rent boats, or you can bring you r own boat. The dock holds 2 boats up to 24'. There are 3 bedrooms and a loft. The 2 first floor bedrooms have queen beds, while the second floor "pirate room" has 2 twin beds. The loft has a double bed and twin bed plus many games and a tv/dvd for rainy days. All linens are provided - we recommend you bring your own beach towels. THE KITCHEN - is fully stocked with dishes, pans, glasses, utensils and cooking supplies. A regular drip coffee maker, waffle maker and toaster are also provided. Bring your own drinking water, the cottage water is for cooking and bathing only. THE LIVING ROOM - has a comfortable couch, love seat and chair. Floor fans are in each bedroom. The wood burning stove is perfect for cool spring or fall visits and warms the entire cottage when necessary. Plenty of wood on the island is available for burning. No outdoor fires are allowed on Mink Island. WIFI is included (but we highly recommend that you turn your phone and computers off and enjoy "The River") THE BATHROOM - comes complete with a shower, bath towels, soaps and shampoo. A first aid kit and sunscreen are also provided for summer fun. The highlight of the cottage is the large, private outdoor shower with teak floors and a changing area. THE WRAP AROUND PORCH - has recessed lighting as well as patio lights are perfect for evening gatherings. The Amish made farm table comfortably seats 10 and the Rutan furniture is the best seat in the house for enjoying a morning coffee or evening cocktail. GRILL & SUNDECK - Enjoy the table, umbrella and chairs on the sundeck for your grilled dinner or quiet moments with a good book. Attached to the stairs from the water is a 20 foot floating dock for docking your boar or our rented pontoon boat. SWIMMING / BOATING - Mink Island's waterfront is nestled in a quiet cover perfect for floating, paddling and swimming. Seaweed is minimal. We are happy to share our water "toys": 2 paddle boards and a kayak as well as several fun floats. Yard games and cottage games are all included. MINK ISLAND - Our pet friendly island has a beautiful path which travels the middle of the entire island complete with a "little library" to share all sorts of books. We ask that you respect our friendly neighbors by keeping quiet hours from 10:00pm - 8:00am THE NEIGHBORHOOD - Mink Island is located at the edge of Chippewa Bay on the American side of the St. Lawrence River. Shermerhorn Harbor is a quick boat ride away and has a convenient store, boat gas and repair shop as well as a restaurant. Oak Island is directly across from our cove and parts of the island are owned by TILT and are great for a hike or exploring. Singer Castle is only a 10 minute boat ride away from Mink Island and a must see during your stay. The always exciting village of Alexandria Bay is a 20 minute boat ride (or 10 minute car ride) and is perfect for families or adults to enjoy the shops, night life and even the drive in theater in town. We highly recommend that you visit NAVS POPCORN and Dark Island Distillery. Don't miss Boldt castle either. INTERACTION WITH JIM AND CHERYL - Our summer cottage is next to the guest cottage and we are available to help you settle in and if needed we will take you out for a boat ride to highlight the area's best fishing, swimming, relaxing and exploring areas. (And we will introduce you to our "shoals" - aka underwater islands.) BOOKING: In July and August we prefer a 1 week stay minimum - Saturday to Saturday, but we understand that not everyone can rent for a full week so we are flexible. Other months, there is no minimum stay. RULES - No smoking IN the guest cottage Well-behaved dogs are welcome (maximum 2 dogs - NO PIT BULLS or PIT-MIX) You must have fun ! Guest access CEDAR ISLAND BOAT LAUNCH - Chippewa Bay, NY Guests will launch boats or park cars at the public boat launch. It is a 5 minute boat ride to Mink Island. We appreciate a text or call with anticipate ETA.
