Our two cabins, Holly and Dogwood, are located on a quiet, wooded 10 acre retreat that is 8 miles from Athens. Our special feature is a spring fed creek that flows year round and has it's own micro climate that is perfect for native ferns, mixed hardwood forest and dogwoods. We have provided a nature trail for bird watching and exercise. Recently we designed and constructed a beautiful pond with three waterfalls and a deck overhanging the water with chairs for enjoying our private paradise. This cabin has a king sized bed, a bathroom with a wash basin, shower and a kitchenette with a dish washing sink, an electric two infared burner stove, a small refrigerator, toaster oven, toaster and Keurig coffee maker in the front room. Pets are welcome but please know that we have two toy miniature schnauzers that like to greet our guests with enthusiasm and are free to roam. My wife wanted a pond for our 30th Anniversary, so we designed and created the Falls of Mossbridge. There is a cantilevered deck where our guests may sit to admire the view and listen to the sounds of falling water. Although the cabin would be crowded, we have a comfortable folding cot that is available for use, in case parents want to bring to young child. We will provide coffee and tea and there is a charcoal grill, also if the conditions are favorable we will allow a small bonfire for enjoyment. Finally, if you have a camper (no hook-ups) or boat trailer we have lots of room to park it while you go exploring Athens. Guests will have access to all 10 acres, however, the host's residence, the metal building, the second cabin are off limits unless invited. Our home is 100 feet away and one of us will almost always be available to help. You will have a screened in porch to sit and enjoy the panoramic view of the woods and to watch the sunrise and sunset. If you are into flowering dogwoods, we have over forty in our woods and when they are blooming they are a sight to behold so in late March and early April is a great time to come stay. We are also located in the center of prime East Texas antiquing country. Lake Athens, Cedar Creek Lake and Lake Palestine, if you are into boating and fishing, are in close proximity. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Departments Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center is only minutes away too. We will be able to provide information and maps on things to see and where to go and eat. Our cabin kitchenette has an electric infrared countertop two burner stove, toaster and a small toaster oven. If we are home during your stay and you need a larger oven to bake something, then we will be happy for you to use ours.
