Wooden Tent 80 wild acres, trails

Small 2-person cabin sleeps two, with tent sites for others. Summer Kitchen is a separate structure, screened in, with LP gas grill, one-burner, tables and sink for washing up. OFF GRID: NO ELECTRICITY, NO RUNNING WATER. Clean water in jugs is provided. Pans/kitchen basics provided. Privy down short path. 80 acres of trails, abundant wildlife. The site is secluded, immersed in nature, great for romantic get-away, or larger family if you bring tents because the cabin only sleeps 2. Fire ring. The space Wooden Tent and Summer Kitchen are hidden away in mixed hardwood forest. Tractor road is close, a comfortable hiking path- try quietly sneaking up on wildlife, a peaceful hike. Stay on the trails and dont get lost in huge forest! Out in the fields, see if our apples, pears, peaches, cherries, and grapes are ripe! Try a few if they smell sweet and are warm and soft to the touch. Gather wild blackberries, black raspberries and wild plumbs! Gather a few morels if you are lucky and/or have the knack. Hike trails through restored native prairie, pine forest, oak/maple forest. Local eco-tourism and other activity is popular throughout the year, including canoeing on kickapoo, fishing in trout streams, driving tours of Amish areas/visiting Amish shops, and many various festivals and community events. Viroqua is 35 minutes away, a great day trip for shopping, trending restaurants, and engaging small town charm. Guest access Guests are welcome to hike around the open areas of our land, and on the trails when in the woods. Its easy to get lost in the woods- many ravines and easy to lose your way. Other things to note Our 80 acres at Red Maple Retreat consists of two 40-acre plots of mixed forest and prairie. Our land was used for organic vegetable farming for the Madison Farmers Market, and part of it is still a tree farm. Guests may explore both farms, a 5-10 minute stroll down a small gravel road connects our land. We have another rental cabin at the other farm, a larger cabin, "The Bunkhouse". Larger groups sometimes rent both. The Bunkhouse sleeps 6, Also on Air BnB. If you have another few people, bring tents, thats ok, however, we discourage "parties" and loud rowdiness.
