The Ellis House is a cozy vintage bungalow in historic Dayton, offering unique, comfortable accommodations in the heart of the Willamette Valley. Located on a quiet street within walking distance of Dayton’s charming downtown square, it’s a perfect retreat in wine country. Conveniently situated between Newberg and McMinnville. The space This cozy 1912 bungalow offers a comfortable, character-filled home base ideal for extended stays in Oregon wine country. With two bedrooms and one bath, the home features original details like vaulted ceilings, fir flooring, brass hardware, and a classic Jack-and-Jill bathroom with a tub/shower combination. The kitchen is thoughtfully stocked for everyday living, with Fiestaware dishes (service for eight), wine glasses, a coffee maker, and grandma’s well-seasoned cast-iron pans—perfect for settling in and cooking at home. Vintage furnishings and warm touches throughout the house create a relaxed, lived-in atmosphere that makes longer stays feel easy and welcoming. Both bedrooms are designed for comfort, with a queen and a double bed dressed in 100% cotton sheets, hypoallergenic down-alternative pillows, and cozy comforters. The home comfortably sleeps four. Soft robes are provided for relaxing mornings or winding down in the evenings. The Ellis House has been recently renovated with an updated bathroom, new roof, upgraded electrical and heating systems, air conditioning, a refreshed back deck, and modern kitchen appliances—providing the comforts of today while preserving the home’s historic charm. As a home built more than 112 years ago, its character includes original cabinets and counters, gently sloping and occasionally squeaky floors, doors that sometimes stick, and beautiful wavy glass windows that reflect its history. A small pet may be permitted with prior approval and a $100 per month pet fee. Guest access An access code will be provided to you the day of check-in. Please message us, and we'll give you a personal code to use during your stay. The entire upstairs is available for guest use. The basement can be used for bike storage and has a clothes washer and dryer. It is available upon request. If you chose to use the basement, you agree to use caution and the handrail when walking up and down the stairs- they are steep with a shallow run. Other things to note Sometimes it's nice to stay in and cozy up at the fireplace, or take a nice hot bath. We have Netflix and Wifi, an assortment of board games, and a small collections of books and DVDs available for your use and enjoyment during your stay. Security Cameras are placed outside for security.
