Description

Cozy room with private entrance & private bath, on a quiet suburban street, less than 15 minutes from downtown New Haven / Yale. Keypad entry for your convenience. The space If you just need a comfortable, private place to sleep and shower and have your coffee or tea in the morning, this should work nicely for you. It's on a safe, peaceful suburban street with off street parking and private rear entrance. You are welcome to sit outside and enjoy the gardens and picnic table. The pictures don't show it but we have installed a TV with cable. Guest access You can enjoy our yard, patio with picnic table, and even a swingset. You can park off street in our driveway at the back of the house, just make sure you leave room for cars to get out of the garage by parking in the back corner of the driveway near the shed. :) There are some steps to go from the rear driveway to the level of your room, and a few steps up to the door of the room. It's not a lot, but just be aware of that if steps are an issue for you. During your stay We do live in a part of the house some of the year though we are away a lot too. (The people who live above you, at the main door, are tenants.) If we are around, we would love to meet you, but we also respect your privacy. When you book, we will let you know if we will be around during your stay. We do ask that you include an actual photo of yourself in your profile so that we know what you look like. That is for your safety as well as ours. This is our home so we want to be sure we know who is coming in and out. Other things to note There is a closet in the room with some space for hanging things. You will note that there is a central vacuum in that closet. No worries, we never use it when there are guests, so you don't have to worry about a sudden roar! For cold weather stays, please note that the bedroom is heated with baseboard heating. If it is not on and you need it, there is a dial on the unit, just turn it to the desired setting. If there is SNOW in the winter (and there will be) we have someone who should plow the driveway. However, we can’t predict exactly when they will come, so if there is snow in the forecast you might want to park at the top of the driveway, as it is sloped and you will not get up it if it is slippery or snowy. Do NOT park on the street if there will be snow or you will get plowed in. We will leave some shovels to allow you to shovel the short walkway or dig your car out, as it's impossible to find a service to do that in a timely fashion! (There also is a snowblower in the shed if you know how to use one and wish to do so.) So please take note: if you are not able to shovel snow, then this may not be the place for you if it snows! Our little disclaimers: We want everyone to be happy so please note these few things. For larger patrons some things might seem a bit tight; it is a stall shower, which may seem small for larger folks, and there is not a lot of room on the sides the bed to get in, though you can move it up against one wall to make more room on one side. For light sleepers, note that there are people who live above this room. Normally they are quiet at night, but it's possible you can hear footsteps or other noises, and yes, you can hear toilet flushes as those pipes go through this room. Also the room is next to a garage so you could hear the garage door opening or car starting, though currently no car is kept in there. Note also that this is a suburban location -- you need a car to go anywhere interesting. If you plan to hang out in the room to work, note that there is not a desk. There is a small tray table and chair where you can sit, but it's not exactly an ergonomic workstation. We very seldom get complaints about these things, but we just want you to know in advance in case these are things you might be sensitive to.
