The Painted Hills Cottage, a charming European cottage surrounded by a serene private garden, is a botanical wonderland from early spring to late autumn with a zen like beauty during the winter months. It's located in a quiet neighborhood in Mitchell, a town of pioneer spirits. The owners have put all their love and creativity into the cozy house and garden, creating a peaceful private sanctuary within the spectacular rugged landscape of Eastern Oregon. The cottage is ideal for family get-togethers, meetings of friends or the romantic weekend for two. The cottage features a remodeled bathrooms with a great rain shower, terry cotton towels, and organic soap, shampoo and conditioner. The bright and cozy bedrooms are furnished with new beds and high quality mattresses, fluffy European down comforters and pillows with soft cotton covers. The sun-flooded living room features a cozy sofa bed that can easily accommodate extra guests. There are big screen TV’s with DVD systems and international movie collections for fun entertainment. Wifi is available throughout the house and garden. Pets are welcome here too.The famous Painted Hills are only 12 minutes away by car and where-ever you go from here - the wild Beauty of Eastern Oregon will surround you and amaze you. The fragrant garden has an abundance of different kind of fruit trees and bushes and guests are invited to pick whatever is ripe through the seasons such as berries, grapes, plums, and pears. Wonderful fragrant culinary herbs can be cut fresh from the herbal garden for cooking a memorable meal in the well-stocked kitchens of both cottages. ~No smoking indoors ~Pets of responsible owners are ok (no diggers!) Living Room: air-condition, big screen TV with DVD & VCR, great movie selection, comfy seating for 6, hide- a- bed sofa (can sleep two), decorative wood stove, working desk Bedroom 1: full size bed with excellent mattress, European down comforter, linens provided, drawers, wardrobe, reading chair and lamp Bedroom 2: 1 full size bed, 1 single bed, both with excellent new mattresses, European down comforters, fluffy pillows, drawers, linens provided, reading chair and lamp Extra Bedroom: this small light flooded room is joined to Bedroom 1 by a sliding door and has a cozy sofa hide bed that can accommodate 2 more guests. It’s set up as a reading room. Children love it! Dining Room: Seating for 6, stereo system Bathroom: Recently remodeled white tiled bathroom with large walk in shower, rain showerhead, custom build wood cabinets, vanity mirror, sink, shelf, first aid cabinet with basic necessities. Barn-room (available for both houses): selection of games, woodstove, supply of firewood, seating for six, sofa, small TV with VCR, library of books and videos. The barn can sleep two more children in a cinch. The surrounding area is spectacular with amazing views at every turn - a real geological wonderland. The famous Painted Hills are only 10 minutes away by car, and the other 2 units of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, the Sheep Rock and the Clarno Rock Formations, are between 40 and 70 minutes away by car on scenic Byways. Other things to note Extra Fees and City Lodging Tax Extra guests: There is a $30 extra guest fee for each additional guest over 4 which can be paid through airbnb! City Lodging Tax: The City of Mitchell charges 5% lodging tax which is included in your Airbnb bill as "Property Use Tax" and a 1.5 % State lodging tax included in the nightly rate. Pet fee: We welcome pets for a $25/night/pet fee. All pet rules apply! Please mention that you will bring a dog. Payment for pet fee can be in cash or with check!
