Battle of Pilot Knob State Historical Site The site’s open, grassy fields include the fort’s old earthworks, two Confederate burial trenches, a visitor center with a story of the battle and its context within the Civil War. Ste. Genevieve Founded in 1735, it is the oldest permanent European settlement in the State of Missouri. St. Genevieve’s Historic District contains 29 types of architecture. Johnson’s Shut-Ins Play in the shallows of the East Fork of the Black River. Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park has pretty picnic areas, Ozark landscapes, natural places to swim and great campsites. Elephant Rocks State Park The elephant rocks, which were formed from 1.5 billion year old granite, are giant boulders that stand end-to-end like a train of circus elephants. Silver Mines This beautiful area is located along the St. Francis River, the only river in Missouri classified as “white water,” and is used for kayaking during the spring high waters. Taum Sauk Mountain State Park Climb to the top of Taum Sauk Mountain State Park and be on top of Missouri – literally. Lighters and marshmallow roasting sticks can be found on the back porch in the copper bucket. Please no smoking, no fireworks, no firearms. Please do not drive through the yard. For a minimal fee more firewood can be made available to you if you find that you run out before your stay has ended. Our staff can be available and we will do everything we can to ensure you have a great stay, otherwise we will not disturb you, unless you have a request. You can find two convenience stores in Lesterville either left or right from the front driveway. Jack's will be out the driveway and on your right. Lenny's will be out the driveway to the right and across the bridge. They have food, beer, liquor and all your basic needs for a great weekend on the river.
