Description

Discover Downeast Maine and all its offerings from the comfort of a spacious no-frills, family house on our working homestead, which we lovingly call "The Soulstead". Effortless access as a base for your Maine adventures. Unplug and unwind with your family, and make meaningful memories. We are a young family working on building up our small permaculture-based homestead and are proud to welcome you with hospitality and love for our 4th season of hosting! The space Welcome to the Soulstead! 3 Bedrooms, 1 full bath, large kitchen and dining area, family room with books and games, WiFi, Roku TV with Hulu, Netflix, etc., washer and dryer access, outdoor fire pit, playground for the kids. Sleeps up to 4-8 comfortably. *(Currently and for the past 3 seasons there is no A/C for cooling (there IS heating downstairs)-- please keep this in mind if A/C is an amenity you need. Plenty of window fans, tower fans, and desktop fans are available for your use.)* The accommodations we offer here are simple, humble, honest and pure. We value our guests and their time here. When you choose us for your accommodations, ***you are supporting the livelihood of a young Maine family*** instead of a wealthy property investor or corporate hotel... We Appreciate You! As a thank you to our guests, we always leave something special, including but not limited to: eggs from our ducks, homemade baked goods, drinks in the fridge, coffee and teas, snacks and/or wine. Guest access You will have access to the whole house (we do have one storage room locked off from guests), and the front and backyard. The small wildlife pond is also available to wander to; please supervise young children. Other things to note • Please understand, before booking: - We do live at the rear of the 10 acre property, and the driveway is shared. There is 3-4 acres of forest in between our camp and the home as well as a privacy fence at the entrance for when we are tending gardens or doing chores around the home, which we try to do while you're away. We do have a refrigerator and other belongings in our garage (behind the privacy fence) that we come to throughout the day. - There is not a central air conditioner in the home, however, temps in Maine stay relatively mild in the summer months. There is also not a dishwasher; dishes must be washed by hand. The majority of our guests have had no issues with these "limitations." - It is a fairly large space, thus we do charge a cleaning fee, but it is very minimal. We understand you are on vacation, so we don't request a long list of chores for you to do upon your departure at all. Just washed dishes please! :) - Our homestead is a WORK IN PROGRESS! Our livestock is currently at the rear of the property with us. (summer 2025: We will only have ducks as we give the land some rest and do some extensive planning.) The gardens and orchard are in their infant stages as we work on building up the soil. Please out of respect, do not stray beyond the pond. • Sorry, we are not accepting pets at this time.
