Manager Anat will greet you and answer all your questions before and during your stay. She also the onsite healer /massage therapist and has a wealth of information for anything local. Our property is secluded at the end of a 1/4 mile private neighborhood road. Guests are welcome to roam our farm/forest which is covered with avocado and citrus as well as magnificent large oaks and abundant chaparral . There is access to private trail with views of the Ojai Valley and Matilija canyon. The trail reaches into the mountains where the Chumash Indians established their sacred sites, (Hiking boots and long pants advised). Direction to the trail: From front of house cross the parking area towards fence and make a left to the dirt road. it winds up and around the property. Once you pass the little car gate make a right uphill all the way to meditation point. This trail is about 35 min. round trip. Regretfully the trial to pyramid point is harder to access and washed up at spots due to erosion. A few minute drive back to hwy 33 North you can find shady pools along the creek. simply drive a couple of min. north (or longer) park on a shoulder and find a path down to the creek. Enjoy :) Anat the onsite farm manager, lives across the parking area. She is a body worker and healer and schedules private sessions . Having lived in the valley for decades she has a wealth of knowledge of everything local. The owners Carol and Aubrey live 10 min drive ,and are also available if you need assistance They can always be reached by phone, text or email and their goal is to make your stay in and around Ojai unique, rewarding and relaxing. Let us know if you need a private chef or catering services. Ojai is 90 miles north of Los Angeles (100 minutes by car from LAX), and 30 miles east of Santa Barbara. We are 15 miles north of Ventura which is only a 25 minute drive down to the the wonderful Pacific Ocean beaches. For hundreds of years, the area around Ojai was a Chumash Indian spiritual ground. In addition it drew in many of the world's famous philosophers (Annie Besant, Aldous Huxley, Krishnamurti), artists (Duchamp, Chagall, Beatrice Wood), awareness/spiritual teachers ( Byron Katie, Gay and Kathlyn Hendricks), and the Theosophy Institute to name a few. Throughout the year you may enjoy art, music, play writing/theater, yoga, meditation, and many festivals that attract people from all over the world. There is also a wonderful tennis tournament and a stellar golf course. The valley’s unique east west orientation (most other USA valleys run north south) floods Ojai with a special light attracting artists in much the same way the east west Hamptons near New York does. The light also accentuates its surrounding majestic mountains and creates its "pink moment" . There are many citrus, avocado, and olive orchard farms thriving in its Mediterranean climate reminding one of Tuscany, Provence and parts of Spain. Hikes in and around Ojai challenge people at different skill levels. Our property is in Ojai’s NW corner just north of its “newly hip” Meiners Oak section. Parking is limited to 5 cars. Unless one stays in and plans to spend time retreating , a car is necessary, or you may hire a taxi service or Uber For those who like to bike, there is a bike path running east west through town as well as to Ventura and its beaches along the Pacific ocean. A local bike store rents bikes and has organized bike group rides. Ojai has a wonderful year-round climate with warm days even in winter and lots of sun and cooler nights, rain falls mainly in winter. The 15 miles of mountains that surround Ojai offer beautiful hiking trails with views, waterfalls and natural sulfur hot springs.
