Description

It’s about the details here. Like the locally-roasted coffee, and hand-made local chocolate and soap that greet you. Woodhaven is distinctive – solid bronze hardware, hand-made iron curtain rods, stylish designs, quality linens, thoughtful bath amenities and well-equipped kitchen. It’s designed for your pleasure and the comfort of your family or friends. This tranquil cabin sits in a sunny glade among tall trees, a short stroll to the Lakemont Pines private lake and a short drive to ski slopes. The space Stepping into Woodhaven, you feel the difference instantly. This isn’t a typical Sierra cabin. We've brought a Napa Valley aesthetic to this Calaveras wine-country home. Kick off your shoes, relax and enjoy the unique charm and casually-sophisticated furnishings this mountain get-away offers. Walking in, you enter an open-concept living space – kitchen, dining room, breakfast bar, living room – surrounded by windows and forest outside. You – and perhaps some kids – are likely here to swim, play on the sandy beach, kayak, paddleboard, fish, hike or bike. Just step outside the door. Winter? Maybe it’s to ski or snowboard at the world-class Bear Valley Mountain Resort, just 40-minutes away. Perhaps it’s to wine taste, golf, explore caves, whitewater raft, shop, dine, visit museums, gold-pan or hear live outdoor music. All this makes Calaveras the 14th highest-ranked U.S. county. (Well above Napa! ☺) THE WOODHAVEN BASICS . . . ■ New Hot Tub Spa connected to the deck seats 4-6 people ■ Accommodates 6-7 guests: one queen bed, two twins, a queen sofa bed, twin inflatable mattress ■ Two bedrooms: cotton linens, down pillows and comforters, wool blankets, French linen curtains ■ One bathroom: plush cotton towels, bathrobes, hair dryer, complimentary toiletries – soap, shampoo, cotton balls, makeup remover pads, Q-tips, razors, shaving cream (and if you forget your toothbrush or toothpaste, we’ve got you covered) ■ High-speed internet, WiFi, 55-inch smart TV, cable, Netflix, Amazon, fire pit, luggage rack, charging station dock, washer, dryer, iron, ironing board, kids’ booster seat, Pack 'n Play, nightlight, beach towels, inflatable mattresses ___________________________________________________________________ THE NOT-SO-BASIC WOODHAVEN EXPERIENCE . . . While settling in, open the sliding glass door to the large, sunny deck and breathe the fresh mountain air. Sit in the comfy outdoor furniture while sipping complimentary chilled California chardonnay awaiting you. Ready to freshen-up for dinner? Step into the tastefully-updated bathroom. Gaze at forest while showering with luscious, local hand-crafted goats’ milk soap. Then slip into a fresh, luxury cotton bathrobe. Reconsidering dining out? Sharing food and wine around the large, inviting dining table overlooking woods certainly makes for a lovely evening. You’ll find a well-stocked kitchen, quality cookware, forged steel knives and individual condiments. It’s great cooking with the Bosch gas stovetop and electric oven. After dinner, lounge on the couch under the cedar ceiling – fire blazing – with a book and cashmere throw. Sip a hot drink we’ve provided. Perhaps enjoy a board game or movie. Then, step off hardwood floors into stylishly-furnished, carpeted bedrooms. Curl up in bed with a book and nightcap as you ease into a cozy, restful night’s sleep. Opening curtains in the morning, you’ll stare up from bed through trees outside your window. Lazy morning? Not going out? Guest access ___________________________________________________________________ ❅ ❅ WINTER IS HERE!! ❅ ❅ And good news . . . Woodhaven has a FLAT driveway and a FLAT off-road parking area. And we keep it plowed at no cost to you. So, you don't have to worry about getting in or out! ___________________________________________________________________ During your visit, you will have entire access to Woodhaven and the surrounding property. If it’s summer, it’s likely that your primary concern will be access to the lake. And there’s certainly plenty to access at the Lakemont Pines Lake and recreational facilities… ▪ Sandy beach ▪ Kayaks ▪ Canoes ▪ Paddle boards ▪ Paddle boats ▪ Beach and water toys for the kiddos ▪ Fishing for bass and bluegill ▪ Life jackets ▪ Snack shack ▪ Picnic tables ▪ BBQ ▪ Shuffleboard ▪ Ping pong ▪ Horseshoe ▪ Basketball court ▪ Playground with climbing structures ▪ Lodge access ▪ Lifeguards ▪ Lakeside trail Lakemont Pines is a private subdivision. Lake amenities are available for the exclusive use of residents and their guests – meaning you. Guests will have complete use of the lake, private sandy beach and all the other amenities it has to offer. The Lakemont Pines recreational facilities officially open on June 16th. Lifeguards are on duty then and the snack shack is open. If you’re coming with kids, they can literally spend the entire day just hanging out at the lake during the summer. And by the way, if you’re checking out other areas in Arnold, keep in mind that if you rent in Blue Lake Springs, you’ll need to pay an additional $300 per week for access to their lake. At Woodhaven, there’s no charge for accessing the lake or all its amenities. If you’d like, you can spend all the money you save at the Lakemont Pines lake snack bar – which would likely amount to several weeks’ worth of hot dogs and ice cream! Other things to note Your enjoyment at Woodhaven is our PRIMARY concern. Here are a few things we think you’ll want to know… ✔ SIZE MIGHT MATTER: Although this cozy cabin has a roomy feel with the open floor plan, keep in mind that it is cozy. It’s 800 square feet. And although it’s a very comfortable 800 square feet, it’s not huge. There are two bedrooms and one bath. In terms of sleeping guests, we’ve comfortably housed and slept three kids in one room and two couples on the two queen beds – one in the master bedroom and one in the living room pull-out sofa. It is close quarters, so you’ll want to make sure you’re close with the people you stay with here! ✔ STEPS: Part of the charm of the cabin is that it’s nestled in a sunny little glade in the woods, down a small hillside. But that means guests need to be able to get down to it. There are stone steps leading down to the entry – 42 to be exact, although they're short stairs. These are perfectly fine for anyone who is able-bodied, but could be challenging for someone with physical limitations. (And of course, it’s not just getting into to the cabin, but the steps necessary to climb to leave!) ✔ DISHES: There are a couple of things you might be used to that you won’t typically find in cabins up here – like a dishwasher. Fortunately, there’s a lovely kitchen window at Woodhaven you can look out of onto the woods while you’re hand-washing dishes. (It can actually be quite relaxing. And just recently, we saw a jack rabbit out the kitchen window while washing dishes.) ✔ AIR CONDITIONING: The other thing you might look for in summer is air conditioning. Like most cabins up here, we don’t have it. But like most folks here, we’ve never felt like it was needed. We just keep the windows and doors open – and if necessary, the ceiling fan running. That’s usually very comfortable. And then, in the evening, the cool high-Sierra summer breeze kicks in and lowers the temperature and it’s quite nice. ✔ PHONE SERVICE: Well, you’re in the mountains and phone-cell service can be pretty spotty. Verizon, however, is quite reliable if you walk or drive to the lake. (There’s also free Wifi at the lake.) If you require cell service, we recommend you have WiFi calling enabled on your phone and use Woodhaven’s WiFi. We will not provide refunds because of PG&E, internet, or cell-tower outages – which can sometimes occur in the winter and are, of course, completely beyond our control. ✔ WINTER ACCESS: Please keep in mind that this is a mountain cabin. So, when you’re visiting in the winter, be prepared for winter mountain weather. That means that during heavy snow storms, you may need chains or 4-wheel drive to access Woodhaven. If you are arriving in winter, please remember to carry tire chains (even if you have 4-wheel drive) and be prepared to put them on if weather conditions require. We will not provide refunds due to weather conditions, but we will be happy to re-book a trip in advance due to heavy anticipated snowfall. ✔ PUBLIC SAFETY POWER SHUTOFF: Due to the recent California wildfires, PG&E is implementing precautionary measures to help reduce their risk. If extreme fire danger conditions threaten a portion of the electric system serving Arnold or Lakemont Pines, PG&E may turn off electricity in the interest of public safety. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds because of any electrical outages that occur during your stay. ✔ PARKING: There is a large parking space at Woodhaven off Lakemont Drive. It can fit two vehicles. In the winter, this off-road parking space will be cleared for you. Plow service for roads into Woodhaven is managed by Lakemont Pines in the winter. Please do not park in the roads, which can delay clearing. ✔ LIONS AND BUGS, AND BEARS, OH MY! Keep in mind that you’re in the woods. And in the woods, you’ll find wild animals – or they might find you. Besides the small, cute critters like squirrels and rabbits (and not so cute small critters like skunks), there are also big critters like mountain lions and bears. They’re not often spotted in Lakemont, but they can come around. So, please be mindful of the fact that you’re sharing the forest. Other critters include bugs and mosquitoes. If they tend to like you, be sure to pack some repellent. ✔ GARBAGE AND RECYCLING: We don’t have garbage service. (That helps keep the bears away!) But what that means is that you need to carry out your own trash when you leave. We provide plastic garbage bags, and also encourage recycling in your own community. We also have a green waste bin for folks like us who like to recycle green waste. It’s a stainless steel container under the sink. We provide the green waste bags for you. ✔ OTHER STUFF? Don’t be shy about contacting us if you have any questions about Woodhaven or the local area. We love to help our guests. And we have a local co-host in case any problem or concern arises during your stay. We will be able to address it promptly.
