Built by a general merchant in 1886, the house retains its light and historic charm, but has been extensively updated for modern day comfort. This is not your typical stuffy Victorian mansion. I do my best to create a relaxed and welcoming "beach-house-in-the country" vibe. Guests are welcome to use the outdoor spaces for dining, relaxing, and reconnecting. The space The beautiful, historic Eddie Sargent House is a five-minute drive to the Owen Sound city centre and is close to various parks, beaches and portions of the Bruce Trail. The house has modern amenities mixed with historic architectural details, a comfy bed, a well-equipped, spacious kitchen, and large patio This is one of Owen Sound's finest homes. It is a big Victorian house built by a general merchant between 1882 and 1886, it retains its light and historic charm, but has been extensively updated for modern day comfort. This room can accommodate two adults (one queen-sized bed). The room is comfortable and the windows face east. The renovated bathroom has a two-person shower - one shower head for tall people and one for shorter. The yard is 1.7 acres with a large deck for lounging, reading, or having a BBQ. There is a swing set, trampoline (July to September) and a firepit that guests may use. Please note there is no air conditioning but working with the sun and the window blinds the house can be kept at or below 24.5 degrees even in prolonged summer heatwaves. I do provide room fans. Note that this is also a family home and is historically significant. Please treat the home and grounds with respect as you would your own. Guest access Guests are more than welcome to use the kitchen, dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils and you have your own fridge. Feel free to use the outdoor spaces including the deck/patio, firepit and outdoor furniture. This is family home as well as an AirBnB, therefore the washrooms, dining room, outdoor eating areas, kitchen, bathrooms and other general spaces are shared with the host, and, in high-demand times, may be shared with other guests. The living room is primarily for host and family use. Guest use is at the discretion of the host. During your stay As much or as little as you want. I am here to help and am more than happy to give recommendations and directions to Grey County's best restaurants, hiking trails and activities. Other things to note There are tons of toys (indoor and outdoor) and books suitable for kids. There is a playhouse, swing set, small slide and trampoline (July and August) on the 1.7 acre property. There is a small park a two-minute walk from the house and a beach, splashpad and hiking path a two-minute drive away. Your kids will never not have something to do! The only problem is, they will not want to leave... Guests may use the fire pit but must supply their own wood. I can supply a lighter, paper and kindling. There may occasionally be a small-to-medium sized hypoallergenic dog on site. His name is Timbo and he will welcome you excitedly. He is very well behaved and good with children of all ages. If you want to throw him a ball in the back yard he will love you forever.
