Porto Downtown Penthouse w/ private terrace

This charming suite is on the 3rd floor of our 400sqm private house with plenty of soul, tradition, and history. The house was originally built in 1896 and keeps the main structure since 1936. More than an accommodation our guests book an experience in a particularly unique, personal, and authentic way. We are a family of cultural mixes and we love the concept of sharing, receiving, and taking care of our guests as new friends. We’re located in the Art District, close to the historical center. The space The Space The Loft is a 40 sqm open space and is equipped with a king-size bed, air conditioning, a living/dining zone with a kitchenette, and a private bathroom. From the living room, there is direct access to a fantastic 25 sqm private terrace from where you can enjoy a magnificent 360º view of the city of Porto and see the major landmark of the city - Torre dos Clérigos. It's the perfect place to relax, to have a good cold shower & sunbathe, and have a sunset dinner after a long day of sightseeing in Porto. The terrace is equipped with a dining table, chaise longs, and lights.   The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, cooktop, microwave, grill, toaster, electric boiler, coffee machine, cutlery, and other items of cookware. The bathroom has a shower, a bidet, a hairdryer, and free toiletries. It also has a big window with a seaside view. Towels and bed linen are also provided. Laundry facilities and iron are available as well as cleaning products. The History The house underwent rehabilitation works in 2018, where the priority was to keep and recover the materials and design of the original house, without facing the time marks, so we could keep the soul and history of old times. The original structure of the house is like a traditional building from the 19th century, where there is the main staircase, which divides the house into 2 independent blocks, front and back. Besides this space, we have 3 other independent suites available for guests that are carefully decorated with pieces from our family and also with re-used vintage furniture. Sustainability We only use renewable energy (Electric, Biomass, and thermodynamics). The heating system extracts the energy from the environment's heat sources (solar energy, stored in water, air, and soil) for later use in the air conditioning of the house. Concerning lighting, we also use Philips low consumption lights and in common areas like the staircase, we use motion sensors. The Location We’re located in the heart of the Porto Art District, in a quiet local neighbourhood out of the rush of the tourist area but close enough to several monuments and Porto's most iconic streets. From a 10-15 minute walk, you can reach the main ex-libris of the city, bars & restaurants. Guest access Guests can have access to the Loft as well as the terrace and the common garden of the house.
