This little historic home was built just before the turn of the century and was one of the first structures in Raton. If you have a larger group please consider booking the Casita as well! it is right next door and an equally cool little spot! Thoughtfully updated to maintain its historic charm and add modern amenities. We've added fiber-optic wifi, mini split heat, and air, recessed LED lighting, a 5-burner gas range with oven, flat screen smart TV, and lots of original art! The Carriage house is a quaint little brick cottage built in the late 1800’s. It has been completely renovated with updated appliances, furniture and finishes. There is one king sized bed that is memory foam. Most of our guests absolutely love it, but it is definitely too hard for some. It is still an old home! It squeaks, makes noises, doesn’t have perfectly plumb and level walls or floors. It’s small, it is also pretty amazing that it is still liveable 140 years after it was built. You will have access to the whole home. There is a small yard that you are welcome to use as well as a private patio with table and chairs for 4. Please feel free to call or txt if you have any questions about the property. We run an outdoor adventure business 40 miles away as well. Service in this part of the world can be spotty at times. Please be patient with us, we will respond as quickly as possible. If you are staying here you are just a couple minutes walk from the Icehouse BBQ restaurant. They have a great little patio with cold beer and good food. Many weekend evenings you can also catch some live music and even do a little dancing! If you want some coffee (Monday-Friday 7am-4pm & Saturday 8am-2pm) head to Enchanted Grounds on Park Ave. Katie and crew will treat you great with espresso and a full menu. If you're wanting some recreational fun-times, Climax Canyon Park is our Nationally awarded trail right in town! (801 Apache Ave) To get there, take 2nd street to Apache Ave, Apache will dead-end into the parking lot/trailhead. After you park your vehicle, walk through the gates to get to the actual trailhead. The short loop is 1.5 mile, or you can do both loops fro a 3 mile easy-moderate hike. Well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome. Another recreational opportunity is Sugarite Canyon State Park - there's a small day-use fee for motorized vehicles, and camping. Lake Maloya allows boating/kayaking/fishing and day-use. The trail system offers beautiful views, streams, and remote hiking opportunities. A fishing license is required if you're wanting to fish. You can purchase this at Super Save Grocery Store at 1271 2nd st. Super Save is THE grocery store in town. Open until 9pm - 7days a week. Want Pizza, wings, salad, beer & wine? Check out Bruno's Pizza and Wings at 133 Cook ave. (Closed on Tuesdays, but otherwise generally open until 8pm- 9pm on weekends). Colfax Ale Cellar (Brewery: wine and beer): 215 S. 2nd. (Closed Monday, 2-7pm on Sundays, Tues-Thurs 5-9, Friday 5-10pm, & Saturday 2-10pm). They don't serve food (other than snacks), but you can order from Brunos and they'll deliver to the brewery for free. Want Mexican food? Visit Casa Lemus at 350 Clayton Road (generally open until 9pm - sometimes 10pm on weekends). Want a full bar/tv's, or a place to take the family for dinner? Check out Mulligans Restaurant at 473 Clayton Road. They have a big menu with lots of options (Generally open until 9pm). Movies: El Raton Theatre (115 N. 2nd) or Shuler Theatre (131 N. 2nd). Generally showing only Thursday- Sunday. Visit the El Raton website for info for both Theaters. We are not currently accepting pets at this address.
