Elegant Eco Farmhouse Retreat on Nature Reserve

A beautiful, 5-bedroom, quietly-luxurious, sustainably-converted 18th Century Farmhouse located at 42 Acres - a regenerative farm, nature reserve & wellbeing retreat centre. Situated in rural Somerset between Frome and Bruton and we run on 100% renewable energy. With far-reaching views over our 173 acres of wild spaces, including ancient woodland, rewilded meadows, edible hedges, a lake suitable for wild swimming & an abundance of wildlife. It's the perfect place to reconnect with nature. The space This beautiful, refurbished farmhouse is designed to be a peaceful sanctuary nestled in nature at 42 Acres - one of the UK's leading wellbeing retreat centres, and home to pioneering rewilding and permaculture projects. Farmhouse is light, spacious and arranged over 3 floors. The entrance is surrounded by beautifully-kept ornamental gardens, many of the plants in which are edible. These gardens merge into rewilded meadows which in turn give way to the Mendip hills on the horizon - giving beautiful, far-reaching views. Your outdoor dining space gives way to the lawn which is home to our signature twin ancient oaks. Beneath them a circle of tree stump stools - a spot that feels grounding and healing. You enter into a boot room complete with ample coat racks and wellies of many sizes - please feel free to borrow any pair that fits - you shall go to the ball! The boot room gives onto a large, open plan, double-aspect kitchen / dining room. We have been known to seat 30+ people comfortably for dinner in here. The fixtures and fittings are high quality, the views are beautiful, there is an open fire, and the whole space is designed to be sociable. Off the dining room is the parlour which features a central table, a coffee machine, a good supply of ethical teas, a mini-fridge, and a downstairs loo. French doors give far-reaching views over our rewilded meadows. These open onto a patio with outdoor dining tables. Next is a large, triple-aspect group room with huge glass doors, beautiful views, a tiny library and a real fire.  This whole space is designed to give a sense of reconnection to the nature surrounding it. It is peaceful and calming. The first floor features 4 bedrooms and 3 modern bathrooms: - 1 triple aspect superking room with ensuite bathroom with beautiful freestanding rolltop bath - 1 double with ensuite shower room - 1 king and 1 king/twin with shared Jack 'n' Jill ensuite The second floor features a luxe triple dorm room in the eaves and a separate bathroom. If you require more space, The Farmhouse is connected to a beautiful 4-bedroom annex called, Rettig. Rettig is also listed here on AirBnB. We do not allow pets at The Farmhouse but we welcome one well-behaved dog at Rettig. There are 6 separate spaces available on our 173 acres of land. Booking Information: Our self-catered accommodation is released on a rolling 90-day basis and can be booked up to 3 months in advance. August and the Christmas/New Year period are available to book further ahead. If your preferred dates are not yet available, please check back closer to your intended stay. Tiny Boat is currently available to book throughout 2027. All accommodation has a minimum stay of 2 nights. Guest access Our vision is to live in harmony with self, nature and others. As well as your private space, we invite you to explore our regenerative estate that is home to millions of lives. We nurture the land not only for ourselves but for the other living beings we share it with. Over the past few years, we have seen the return of a number of once-thought extinct species, including beavers, wild boar and pine martens. We are home to an organically-farmed market garden; sacred bee garden; micro woodland mushroom farm; edimental walled garden; forest kitchen; edible hedges and more. Please feel at home and free to explore all our beautiful land. We also offer a wide range of wellbeing and nature-based experiences, retreats and workshops. Please check what's coming up on our site if you'd like to time your visit to coincide. If you would like to add a private 42 Acres-hosted experience to your stay, please get in touch in advance. Experiences range (depending on the time of year & availability) from guided beaver walks to mushroom inoculation workshops, from a woodfired sauna to foraging experiences. These will not be available to book on arrival, so please do ask in advance. Other things to note Rooms Configuration: 1 of the 5 bedrooms in the Farmhouse can be configured either as a King or a Twin. If you would like it set up as a twin, please message us.  As standard, this room is configured as a King. Our Guest Experience: We will leave you to connect with nature and not disturb you, unless you ask. Care for our Spaces: Our incredible team take great care to nurture each of our spaces so that they are clean, comfortable and welcoming. Check in/out: Check in is after 4pm, please get in touch with us if you plan to arrive after 6pm or would like to arrive early. Please vacate by 10am. If you'd like to spend more time onsite or in the area you can leave your luggage in a designated area in the communal space. Facilities: There is no restaurant or shop on site. The nearest food outlet is 15 minutes' drive away so please make sure you bring supplies with you. (We can cater for groups of 12 or more from our "Soil-to-Gut" menu but this must be arranged in advance). Pets: We do not allow pets at The Farmhouse but we do welcome one well-behaved dog at some of our other spaces.
