See note about cats, they will be in the house with you! Our condo is bright and spacious with wood floors and lots of light. Conveniently located, it’s an easy walk of everything in downtown Hartford. Located in a historic townhouse, our updated apartment is on the 1st floor and garden level and enjoys a private backyard The main living area of the house is on the first floor and includes a living room, dining room, half bathroom and large kitchen. Downstairs in the garden level there are 3 bedrooms: 1: Queen sized bed with organic mattress. Private bathroom with shower (no tub). 2: Twin bed with organic mattress (child's room). 3. Full (double) sized bed with super comfy tempur-pedic style mattress. Private bathroom has shower and bathtub. This room also has a mini fridge, microwave and electric kettle. This is the guest room we use if you are just booking a private room through our other listing ("Private suite in James Colt townhouse"). Disclosure: We are next to a busy clinic that opens very early in the mornings (closed Sunday). Sleeping in can be difficult. City dwellers are usually not bothered. The cats: Stripes and Madeline are friendly and pretty low maintenance. They need feeding daily and the litter boxes cleaned if you’re staying more than a night or two. The front bedroom has a cat door so you may have one sleeping by your feet but they won’t wake you up. The whole apartment will be yours during your stay. We have a washer/dryer, iron, all major kitchen appliances, Apple TV, fireplace, etc. Ask if you need anything specific. We will likely be out of town if you are using our whole house, but will be available by phone/email. We have friendly neighbors and Jane's parents live around the corner so there will be help if you need anything at all. We LOVE our neighborhood. It's not fancy but it's very friendly, full of historic buildings and is close to everything. We are a 0-15 minute walk from award winning museums, theaters, concert and sports venues, restaurants, historic sites, the riverfront, major corporations, universities, hospitals and clinics and more. If you look at a map of downtown Hartford everything is walkable, up to the Yard Goats stadium north of downtown and to Coltsville National Park and Hartford Hospital south of downtown. If you want to take a looong walk or short bus ride, you can get easily to the Mark Twain and Harriet Beecher Stowe Houses, Rentschler Field, and more. We are 1-5 blocks from every bus line in the city, and are walking distance from the bus and train station. There is a bus to and from Bradley Airport that stops about 5 blocks away and a Megabus stop about the same distance. It's also usually easy to get an Uber or other taxi. There are cats in the house. See details in the Description section. We have plenty of kids things and other useful items you are welcome to borrow. There's a little kid scooter and helmet, toys, cloth grocery bags, picnic blankets, lawn chairs, and shopping carts, etc. We use eco friendly cleaners and detergents. We also recycle and have a compost bucket should you wish to use it. The bedroom is down 1 flight of stairs from the main floor. As it is a very old building, we sadly are not wheelchair accessible. We welcome guests of all races, ethnicities, religious beliefs, gender identities, sexual orientations and whatever else people may judge you by.
