My place is close to Blackhand Gorge Nature Preserve, Dillon State Park, Flint Ridge State Memorial, Kraner Nature Center, Virtues Golf Club (formerly Longaberger) and wineries. We are 25 minutes from Newark (west) and Zanesville (east). Surrounded by woods and farm animals. Comfy queen bed, kitchenette, grill, patio table, picnic table, fire pit. PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AS IT WILL ANSWER MOST QUESTIONS. ****In the winter you will need AWD or 4WD 2 room cabin. The cabin does NOT have running water inside but an outdoor sink is close by and a large water basin is provided. OUTDOOR BATHROOM - There is an outdoor RV type toilet (see picture) and outdoor shower attached to the back side of the cabin. The house manual in the cabin has detailed picture instructions on how to work the outdoor toilet and shower. The outdoor shower and sink are closed once temperatures drop below 32 F. KITCHENETTE- The kitchenette has everything needed to cook with and eat with. Hot plate, microwave, mini fridge, electric skillet, crock pot, electric griddle, toaster, coffee pot. The cutting board is glass, yes you can use it! We provide PRE-FILTERED Maxwell House coffee. If you bring your own coffee, you will also need to bring your own filters (small). BEDS- Queen bed in the bedroom. The futon is in the front room and will sleep 1 or 2 children or a smaller individual. The futon is slightly longer than 5 feet. The cabin is NOT comfortable with more than 3 adults. ENTERTAINMENT- A small flat screen TV is in the bedroom to watch DVDs, a limited selection of DVDs is available. No cable TV. You will be out in the country, Wi-Fi and phone service is spotty. Games and cards are also provided upon request. Local visitor guides are provided. ANIMALS - Our chickens and large farm dogs are free range. The rooster does crow early in the morning. The goats may make noise when they see someone, they think they need attention and/or treats. You are welcome to give them love but no food please without asking. RUSTIC- The cabin is NOT fancy, it is basic and rustic with NO luxuries. We want guests to enjoy nature; if you have other intentions, the cabin may not be for you. We realize the cabin does not suit everyone and I don't want anyone to be disappointed by the simplicity of the cabin. The cabin is directly behind our house . Guests still have privacy because our living area is in the front of the house. We rarely hear our guests or see our guests after check-in unless they want to spend time with us or the animals. Hunters are NOT permitted to hunt, gut deer or hang deer on our property. This is not a hunting cabin. Check in time is 4:00 pm. If you need a morning check in, you must book the night before. If you need an earlier afternoon check in, message me, I may be able to work it out but no guarantee. Check out time is 11:30 am. Enjoy the yard, fire pit, grill and outdoor tables and chairs. The cabin is in close proximity to the back of our house. My husband and I work during the week. We will be available in the evenings to answer questions or socialize. On the weekends we will be home sparatically. We tend to the animals about 3 times a day which is visible from the cabin. Kayak rental and drop off/pick up to Blackhand and Dillon can be pre-arranged. We are surrounded by about 80+ acres of woods. Blackhand Gorge is only 4 miles away, Dillon Lake is about 7 miles. Blackhand offers awesome hiking & bike paths. The Licking River runs through the gorge. You will see old river locks, stone tunnels and maybe a waterfall. Dillon has a large beach, kiddie pool, volleyball, tennis court, basketball court, archery, shooting range and hiking. When hiking at Dillon, be sure to see the Cypress knees. Flint Ridge is also close by with a Native American museum (seasonal) and lots of unique flint formations along the path. Ask us about other area sites. We ask that you do not hike our woods, the property lines are not well marked and guests have stumbled onto our neighbor's property. Please note, our neighbors down the road do shoot guns on occasion, usually Saturday or Sunday afternoon; we are out in the country and we have no control over it. We are about 1 hour from the Columbus airport. There is plenty of parking in our driveway, you will need a car to get around. There is no public transportation and the closest town is 25 minutes away. Uber has picked guests up at our place before. We have animals on the property. Two outdoor cats (a mom and son), three dogs (an Australian Shepherd named Wyatt Burke, a mutt named Gypsy and a Great Pyrenees named Huxley), four dairy goats named Natalie, Nelson and their son Nico and Dolly (and sometimes more babies) and lots of chickens. Please be nice to the animals, they are friendly but sometimes shy. Please do not feed the animals without asking, there are some foods that are toxic to goats. We provide fresh eggs for breakfast. We provide Maxwell House pre filtered coffee, oatmeal and granola bars in addition to fresh eggs. Please ask if you need anything as most of our guests bring their own food. Since our coffee is pre filtered, there are NO coffee filters in the cabin.
