Description

This charming, detached house rests in Louth, Lincolnshire and can sleep six people in three bedrooms. The space Nestled up a quiet passageway, just a two-minute walk from the heart of one of Lincolnshire’s prettiest market towns, lies Magdalene House – a charming three bedroom, detached Georgian townhouse located in Louth, Lincolnshire. Built in the 1830s, this home displays the architectural features typical of the Georgian style – light-filled rooms, high ceilings, sash windows and ornamental stained glass. The ground floor sitting room exudes a country flavour – of pheasants, horses and hedgerows, the capacious sofa and comfy armchairs are complemented by a selection of interesting local prints painted by well-known Louth artists, not feeling like watching TV then why not grab a book from one of the upstairs bedrooms – you are spoilt for choice! The eat-in kitchen/diner seats six and next to the kitchen is the mud room which has been kitted out with portable beach/picnic chairs and tables, beach towels, beach toys and picnic accessories - all to be used for those trips to the nearby coast, parks and countryside. There is a coffee maker and a tumble dryer for added convenience. The enclosed small sheltered patio can be used all year round. Patio furniture is on hand and for the younger children in the party why not set up the portable picnic table and chairs for some outside arts and crafts, games etc, there’s even a paddling pool available for those who really feel like getting cool! Upstairs there are three bedrooms - one small double and two king size beds – calm and comfortable spaces perfect for some alone time, catching up on correspondence, reading or watching TV. And even though you are only a stone’s throw away from the town centre… you would think you were in the country as it is so quiet and tranquil. A lovely feature is the stained glass window in the upstairs WC - offering a glorious view over the rooftops to St James’ Church – boasting the tallest parish church spire in England. The historic market town of Louth, dating back to pre-Roman times, is a wonderful place to visit – there’s so much to see… for shopping – there’s a wealth of small independent specialist shops, three weekly markets and the cattle market - the last remaining livestock market in Lincolnshire. For eating out there’s an excellent choice of pubs, restaurants, delicatessens and tearooms. Looking for an unusual artifact or relic then visit any of the local antique shops, Auction House or reclamation yard. And there’s Hemswell - the biggest indoor Antiques Centre in Europe - just 40 minutes away and nearby Horncastle also has a heap of antique shops to explore. There is an abundance of Georgian buildings (many listed) to explore and Louth Museum offers walking tours on a variety of topics to do with Architecture and local historic events, the Cathedral City of Lincoln – 50 minutes away – is similar to Louth but on a much bigger scale. Louth is known as the capital of the Lincolnshire Wolds – which has been given AONB (Area of Outstanding Beauty) status and is located just 15 miles from the east coast. There are some well known seaside towns to visit including Mablethorpe, Cleethorpes, Skegness and Sutton-on-Sea but if you are seeking a more remote and unspoilt beach then try Anderby Creek, Mogg’s Eye or Huttoft. Of course there’s the typical country pursuits to enjoy as well… rambling, cycling, bird watching, horse riding and golfing. Louth also offers a thriving theatre scene, movie house, jazz club, museum, leisure centre and tennis centre, and St James’ Church is a regular venue for concerts by local musicians, choirs and international artists. Magdalene House is a great choice for a getaway for anyone – from a single person, couples, families or a group of friends.
