The Marine Reserve extends over a perimeter of 14 km of coastline along the eastern part of the Maddalena Peninsula with an area of 2,429 hectares of protected sea. For all lovers of nature, walking, trekking and mountain biking, there is a splendid 'Sentiero della Maddalena', almost 10 km long. This can be done on foot or by bicycle. In addition to walking and cycling, the Reserve lends itself very well to scuba diving. Accompanied by licensed guides, divers can explore the sea full of life: snapper, dolphins, whales. From here you can easily reach the numerous beaches along the south-eastern coast in the direction of Porto Palo di Capopassero, including those of the Vendicari Reserve. Besides the center of Syracuse and its archaeological park, all the Sicilian Baroque cities are within easy reach: Ragusa Ibla, Modica, Noto, Palazzolo Acreide, Scicli, as well as the reserves of Pantalica and Cavagrande del Cassibile.
