This spacious home is 6 blocks from downtown making it about a 15 minute walk to restaurants and shopping. An additional 10 minute walk will bring you right to all the fun on the Columbia River! The location is ideal, tucked on a quiet street but with easy access to any adventure you want in the gorge! The home has four large bedrooms each with easy access to full bathrooms. The ground floor bed/bath has a walk in shower with bench - giving those with wheelchairs easy mobility. Top floor master bedroom has 90 degrees of floor to ceiling windows looking out over the Columbia River, and an attached private master bath with a deep Japanese soaking tub / walk in shower. Each bedroom comes with a queen size bed and a large closet. Second story open concept kitchen is perfect for hosting large dinner parties with lots of seating and dish-ware. A front porch to sit and feel the warm morning sun and back balcony with bbq and sunset views of the gorge. Gas fireplace in living room seating area and split heater/AC on each floor. Bottom floor cinema room with 54" flatscreen, surround sound, dvds, and xbox. "White House Burger" is our favorite burger in town. *This place is amazing and has gotten very popular in the last few years - if you go on a weekend -especially a holiday weekend at noon- expect a wait for the food. The property is beautiful to walk around and the food is worth the wait!* Happy Hour: One of our favorite happy hour spots is across the river at Pioneer Pizza in White Salmon from 4-6pm. The prices are insane and the food is tasty. $5 margaritas, $5 burger, $3 pizza slice. Lots of beers on tap, wine, margarita choices. Best gluten free pizzas in the gorge (crust made locally at GF bakery in Bingen). Great for everyone - crayons and paper table covers for the artist in all of us. Another local secret is the happy hour at the Best Western Hotel's Cebu Lounge in Hood River. From 4-6pm they offer discounts on food that is worth the trip out of downtown. Our favorites are the salsiccia pasta and the polenta plate. Generous portions and SO delicious. Hike: Tamanawas Falls is a 3.4 mile hike with the trailhead a short drive up towards Mt. Hood. It's difficulty is rated as "easy" and you get an epic waterfall you can even sit behind at the end. It's family friendly and best between late spring and early fall. It is pretty wooded so it stays cool on a hot day, but it is a popular hiking spot so it may be a little crowded on weekends. River Rafting: Wet Planet in White Salmon Downhill Mountain biking: Post Canyon in Hood River and Syncline in Bingen. You will have full use of the house. We live in an apartment below and enter through a door in the back yard which is restricted to guests. There is a nice cider bar called crush 1 block away, Safeway is about 5 blocks, amazing Pho River is 4 blocks away, and downtown is 6 blocks away. There is a skatepark and disc golf park also down the street. Please be respectful of our neighbors by trying to park your cars in the driveway and nearby the house. No more than 4 cars should be parked in driveway and on street there is a nearby street to park large or extra vehicles. We are now being taxed 8% in hood river on Short Term Rentals so our tax is included in our pricing and cleaning fee.
