Located in the amazing town of Antigua Guatemala, our rooms are very private, clean and well lit. We have a couple of patios in the house and a fire pit in one of them. The house is located in a centric Antigua neighborhood that will allow you experience the local culture and life with amazing views of the volcanoes, surrounding mountains and a couple of little parks. Unwind your mind in this magical town with us. We opened our house to share it with the world. Casa ELA is the result of a family effort to help people experience Guatemalan culture in a Guatemalan family house. We have family history in our hallways and walls. You can experience Antigua from our house. Casa ELA is comfortable, quirky and cool. It does not pretend to be a five-star hotel. The reviews tell the story. We are located in Antigua Guatemala. Main attractions like the Santa Catalina Arch Street, Central Park and La Merced Church are located 7 minutes away (walking distance). We are also near Cerro de La Cruz (7 minutes walking). Although shops and restaurants are only minutes away, the area feels peaceful and secluded. We have great wifi that works perfectly for any work meetings you might have or anything else you might need it for. We prepared a Guidebook of many awesome places to enjoy good coffee, snacks, dinners, breakfasts, co-working and have drinks enjoying the views of Antigua, to help you enjoy the experience. Event though we don’t have our own parking space, we are located in a cul-de-sac or dead end street where you can find parking spaces on the street most of the time. Also, since we are in town, there are many options of parking places to choose from just 5 minutes (walking distance) away from the house. Built 1,530.17 m above sea level in an earthquake-prone region, Antigua Guatemala, the capital of the Captaincy-General of Guatemala, was founded in 1524 as Santiago de Guatemala. It was subsequently destroyed by fire caused by an uprising of the indigenous population, re-established in 1527 and entirely buried as a result of earthquakes and an avalanche in 1541. The third location, in the Valley of Panchoy or Pacán, was inaugurated in March 1543 and served for 230 years. It survived natural disasters of floods, volcanic eruptions and other serious tremors until 1773 when the Santa Marta earthquakes destroyed much of the town. At this point, authorities ordered the relocation of the capital to a safer location region, which became Guatemala City, the county’s modern capital. Some residents stayed behind in the original town, however, which became referred to as “La Antigua Guatemala”. Antigua Guatemala was the cultural, economic, religious, political and educational centre for the entire region until the capital was moved. In the space of under three centuries the city acquired a number of superb monuments. Moving around in Antigua Guatemala is pretty simple, specially, when you are located in a centric place like ours. You can walk anywhere and go the opposite side of town within 20 minutes walking. There are many attractions outside of town and you could get local transportation, Uber, or, Guatemalan specials “TucTucs” (little three wheeled covered motos that serve like taxis). We don’t have our own parking space but we are located in a cul-de-sac or dead end street where you can find parking spaces on the street most of the time. Also, since we are in town, there are many options of parking places to choose from just 5 minutes (walking distance) away from the house. We want you to experience our country in a very exciting way, that is why, we can assist you with booking and planning tours and shuttles around beautiful Guatemala. Whether you’re excited to explore historical sites, natural wonders, or cultural experiences, we’re here to help make your stay truly unforgettable. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need any assistance with arranging tours or transportation. We're more than happy to provide personalized recommendations and take care of all the details for you. Looking forward to making your trip special!
