Delightful Bird Sisters Cottage with Parking & Patio Garden
Delightful Bird Sisters Cottage with Free Parking
Description
Discover a tranquil retreat in this inviting home. The residence features unique artwork, updated original architectural finishes, a monochrome interior with wood accents and subtle touches of colour, and a mix of mid-century and antique furnishings. Whether you arrive by train (a leisurely five-minute walk from Brighton Station) or by car (there are two dedicated off-street parking spaces), you begin your stay by entering a gate into a completely private courtyard. Sarah and Jane Bird inherited this two-storey cottage in 1888 from their father Abraham, who purchased it in 1870 from Alfred Martin, for whom it was built circa 1839. Sarah died in 1890 and Jane sold the property in 1895 to E.M.A. Dodds. This two bedroom cottage is located in a very quiet residential neighborhood that was originally home to several ice houses serving Brighton and Hove. The cottage was extensively renovated in 2000 and again in 2017 and preserves the charming and eccentric quality of a 175-year-old building combined with modern comfort. Furnished with a mixture of antiques, original artwork, and carefully chosen new items, it has two full bathrooms, a dedicated desk area with Aeron chair, a comfortable bespoke sofa-bed, fully equipped kitchen, dishwasher, clothes washer, and (unusual for England) a separate tumble dryer. The master bedroom features a king sized bed, which converts to two twins if required. There is a second queen sized bed in the finished loft (but does have limited head height)and a sitting room/dressing room outside the first floor bathroom. High definition flat screen TVs in the living room and master bedroom, along with high-speed wireless internet throughout, make this cottage comfortable and unusual, perfect for a weekend or a longer residence. The cottage is a comfortable walk to everything that brings visitors to Brighton: the seaside (ten minutes), the Brighton Pavilion (ten minutes), restaurants and shops in the North Laine (five minutes), major brand shopping at Churchill Square (five minutes). The guests have access to the whole property. I'm the property manager and will meet the guests on arrival, give them keys and leave them to have a good time. Should they require assistance during their stay I'm on hand. The home is in central Brighton just a five minute walk from the train station, and great location for visiting London. The house is on a quiet street and has many local amenities nearby, as well as the unique character of the North Laine area. With two parking spaces this house is a great find. You can always get the train and buses, taxi's and the a shared bike system.
