Description

Our "Heuboden" is a spacious, rustic 91 sqm apartment with 2 bedrooms, spacious kitchen as well as spacious living and dining area. The apartment is located on a former farm in a rural but central location. The space The Heuboden (Hayloft)... Here, too, the name says it all, because the part of the Lindenhof building in which our apartment "Heuboden" is now located, served in earlier times as a storage room for the freshly harvested and dried hay. The hayloft was located directly above the former stables, was open up to the roof and thus extended over 2 floors. The hay was transported from the loading wagon to the hayloft using forks or later using a blower. In 1999, we expanded this part of the building into a rental apartment. Between the upper floor and the attic, a mezzanine was installed and a completely new roof was put on. In 2021, we began to completely renovate this apartment and convert it into a new apartment. Here, too, we again placed great emphasis on natural building materials as well as on the recycling of old building materials: All walls were newly plastered with clay plaster, the large living, dining and kitchen area was newly tiled with centuries-old clay tiles, in the hallway, removed cement tiles from an old Westerwald half-timbered house were re-laid and in the living room, a half-timbered wall was created as a room divider consisting of old beams from our barn demolition as well as old bricks from a house demolition. We also placed great emphasis on sustainability in the kitchen, because here, too, we have brought an older fitted kitchen with solid oak fronts back to life: framed in beams from our barn demolition, partly walled with the old bricks and completely provided with new chalk paint, it looks like new. Furthermore, during the apartment renovation, antique marble and travertine marble tiles in various colors and sizes were used (bedroom and bathroom). The result is a 91 square meter apartment with a very spacious living, dining and kitchen area, 2 bedrooms for a total of 4 people and a very nice bathroom. It is located on the upper floor and can be reached via an external steel staircase. It is also planned that the hayloft will have a balcony with a south-facing orientation. Hallway: The hayloft welcomes you with a small (but fine) hallway, the floor of which is tiled with historic cement tiles from an old half-timbered house from the Westerwälder lake district. You can sit on the antique chest bench, for example, to put on your shoes comfortably. A small wardrobe completes the hallway. Kitchen: The fully equipped and spacious kitchen leaves nothing to be desired. In particular, the large cooking island offers plenty of space for cooks, spectators, tippers, etc. It is equipped with a large induction cooktop and a downdraft range hood. In the kitchen cabinets you will find everything you need for cooking and baking: from pots and pans to cookware to electrical appliances such as a mixer with mixing bowl, microwave, coffee maker (filter), toaster and kettle. A very spacious fridge and an oven complete the amenities. There is also a freezer in the storage room adjacent to the kitchen. Dining room: The dining area is openly adjacent to the kitchen area. Here you can sit on the 6 chairs at the large, solid oak table to eat, play or just chat together. The dining table can be extended to approx. 3 m if necessary. From the dining area, through the floor-to-ceiling windows, you have a wonderful view of the adjacent meadows and forests as well as the open stable and the paddock for the horses. Living room: In the living room, which is also open to the dining area, you can make yourself comfortable on the leather couch or on the armchair. From there you can comfortably watch TV. We have "hidden" the 107 cm TV in the large oak cabinet. A rustic half-timbered wall made of old barn beams and bricks serves as a room divider to separate the living room area from the hallway, which leads to the bathroom and the two bedrooms. Bedroom s: The hayloft has 2 bedrooms. In the slightly larger bedroom, there is a 180 × 2 m double bed made of oak wood, which was reused from the dismantling of an old jetty. In the antique, handmade large oak wardrobe you will definitely find enough space to accommodate your clothes. We have equipped the smaller bedroom with 2 single beds, each measuring 90 x 200 m. However, these can also be pushed together if necessary, so that a kind of double bed is also available here. Bath: The hayloft is completed by the bathroom tiled with antique marble in warm colors, which has a large, floor-to-ceiling shower. Storage room: This is directly adjacent to the kitchen area. Here you will find, among other things, the freezer, which can be put into operation if necessary. Other things to note We have a 1 GB fiber optic Internet connection for our apartments.
