The home is set back and feels private and cozy, located between Serene Green Farm Stand and the heart of the Village. It is minutes from Long Beach and the tennis courts and hiking trails of Mashsashimuet Park. The town of Sag Harbor offers many local mom-and-pop shops, literary roots, and culture! Tons packed into this quaint year-round village. In the 1800s, it was one of the busiest ports in the country, as referenced in “Moby Dick.” Though it has transformed, it has preserved its small-town charm with local shops, including the Sag Harbor Variety Store. Its literary history embraces John Steinbeck, who lived down the road here and wrote “The Winter of Our Discontent,” and where he began from his Sag Harbor home, his cross-country travels documented in another book. The Bay Street Theater and several art galleries, as well as the famous Sag Harbor Cinema, make it a cultural hub. There are dozens of restaurants and bars that make the town an ideal late-night hangout for celebrities and artists alike. The sight and scenes of Sag Harbor feature historic whaling captains’ quarters and newly constructed cottages throughout the downtown village. Featuring many finely preserved captains’ houses and whaling cottages, this village maintains a classic New England maritime feel. In the heart of the village, there are also Greek Revival and Victorian-style homes.
