This hive is viewable out of a large window on the south side of the Pollinator. We are unable to accommodate domestic animal friends/pets. Domestic animals have killed our wildlife living within our nature preserve many times in the past. You may see our senior dog Peanut somewhere around the property during your stay. Peanut is a 15 year old-25 pound dog. He is very friendly with humans but he does not do well with other domestic animals. This is the 2nd reason why we do not allow domestic animals on the property. For art enthusiasts, the Sculpt Decor Shop, run by master sculptor Dustin Weatherby, is on the 58-acres closest to the Art Lodge located at the bottom of the driveway. Dustin specializes in animatronics, steel sculptures, wood carvings, mixed media sculptures. In 2025, he started offering live art performances and experience packages for guests. Feel free to stop by the shop and say hello. The host's home is on the same 58-acre property. Although you cannot see their home from the Art Lodge or Tiny Bungalows, they are often nearby to assist you if you need them. People that stay at Raven's Retreat are here to be immersed in nature, reset, and reconnect. Our guests often visit the nearby Hocking Hills State Parks. While here, guests experience Seclusion, Peace, Tranquility and an Escape from Everyday Life. All of our dwellings and spaces are inspired by Nature, Art, and overall Systemic Health. We, Raven and Dustin, turned our focus from competing in various combat sports, to Lifestyle Wellness Inspiration and Education. The decorative tiling to your left when you enter the front door of Pollinator Tiny Bungalow is designed to represent fungal species that grow on our property. Large windows allow guests to connect with the outdoors, however, they still have the option to close the curtains for added privacy or to darken the space. Leaving the curtains open, you can look at the stars, at night, from the comfort of the indoors. The Windows are screened to bring in the Appalachian air while keeping the insects out. Raven's Retreat is a beautiful, 58 acre property located in the Hocking Hills, 2 miles east of Laurelville, Oh. With 2 separate 1/2 mile long driveways, one to access the top of the ridge and one to go down in the valley, this land has remained mostly untouched. It was purchased due to its resemblance to the deep woods of West Virginia, home to Raven's mother, Lisa Mahaney. The property is dear to us and we do everything we can to protect and maintain it in its natural state. It contains 4 creeks, hiking trails, a pond, and the top of a ridge. There are several endangered species including whippoorwills and two lined salamanders that reside at Raven's Retreat. There is an abundance of wildlife present due to keeping this property as wild as possible. While no hunting or fishing is allowed, wildlife viewing stations have been setup for guests to observe the creatures. Birdwatching is abundant here, and we are working with local environmental specialists to ensure that we create a thriving, healthy place for many types of wildlife. Our wellness trails have low human traffic. Feel free to explore them and challenge yourself. There is over a mile of hiking trails on the nature preserve. The elevation change from the top of our ridge to the deepest part of our creek bed is over 220ft. If you plan to hike our trails, please keep strong scents such as perfumes to a minimum. This is often overlooked, but it can be confusing and disturb the wildlife. We greatly respect our water, and have natural springs here on the property. We do not allow any hunting, fishing, or swimming on the property. Raven's Retreat Hocking Hills is a wildlife release site for orphaned and rehabilitated animals that have lost their families and been injured due to habitat loss and human encroachment. Always stay on the trails while on the nature preserve and practice leave no trace ethics. Guest access Guests have access to hiking all of the trails within our 58 acres. We do not allow fishing, swimming, or hunting within our nature preserve at Raven's Retreat Hocking Hills. While you are here, we want you to feel completely welcomed and free to explore around the property while doing your best to leave the smallest footprint possible. The Whippoorwill birds here lay eggs on the ground without a nest so please watch your steps on the ground. You must always stay on the trails. Other things to note There is a tree near Pollinator Tiny Bungalow containing honey bees. If you are allergic to bees, we ask that you visit when the weather is cold and the bees are less active. These bees have not attacked anyone but this is just for prevention purposes. We have one senior, 15 year old, jack russel terrier mix named Peanut. He is on 24 hour security duty and likes to interact with guests. He is friendly with humans and knows how to charm for snacks. Big time! Peanut does not do well with other domestic animal companions, so we ask that you do not bring them. No trash, liquid chemical fire starters, or cigarette butts are allowed in the firepit. Keep your fires within the fire pit at all times and no higher than 2 feet.
