Walking & photography Guests are welcome to walk around the property and along the river that showcases nature, some wildlife and rural charm. Frankland River Retreat is also an ideal place for keen photographers and astro photographers, as there's no light pollution you can take some great photos of the stars at night and you can go walking around the property and gets some great photos along the river. There are plenty of opportunity for amateur/professional photographers or just use your mobile phone to capture some memories. Star Gazing Because there is practically no light pollution, the night sky is spectacular. See if you can spot the Southern Cross and the other constellations. Birdwatching Over twenty different types of birds have been seen at Frankland River Retreat. if you cant spot them you can certainly hear them singing. Please note: When you make a booking the house is available however Bedrooms are allocated per persons in the booking Unallocated bedrooms are locked . Yes- , the internet connection is via satellite, We are happy to confirm that Telstra mobile service works at the house. Are there any shops nearby? Part of the Frankland River Retreat charm is its seclusion. This means there are no supermarkets or corner shops nearby. A general store is located 15kms in the Frankland town, and there are IGA supermarkets located in Kojonup and Mount Barker. Do we need to bring our own towels? For your convenience we supply a single bath towel for each guests, we recommend you bring your own additional personal towels for hair washing, Do we need to bring anything to cook with? The homestead is set up for self-catering, the kitchen is equipped with fridge, gas stove, electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster, saucepans, frying pans, crockery, glasses, and cutlery and kitchen utensils. Do we need to bring our own wood for the fire? Wood for the indoor wood burner is provided for guests, cut up and ready on the veranda. Can we bring a dog ? At this point in time we regularly have guests with allergies that come on the understanding that we have not had any pets at the accommodation. In the interest, comfort and safety of our guests we cannot allow pets at the property. We understand that pets are part of your family, while other guests have made arrangements for pet sitters or kennels so they don't miss out and come and stay What’s close by to visit? Frankland River has friendly wineries Alkoomi, Ferngrove, Lange Estate and Frankland Estate. Please check wineries for visiting cellars, opening times and call into one for wine tasting. Can we have an outdoor campfire or firepit? Due to insurance we do not allow any fires at the property. Guest access A four digit access code for key lock box is sent to your prior to your stay with Instructions. The lock box is located on the main post next to the front door. Guests have the house privately to themselves and are welcome to explore and walk around the whole property. The Frankland River is located approx 250 Metres from the house. Other things to note PLEASE NOTE: Only Telstra mobile coverage is available in the area Due to insurance we do not allow any camp fires, fire pits or any open flamed cooking Please ensure gates are secured shut if used to access the fields. The Homestead is located 14Kms from Frankland Town, The General store is the nearest shop for groceries and petrol.
